The Lexus IS350 I had before the G got some minor creasing on the same bolster showing wear in the G, but it wasn't until year three of ownership.

I had a 2000 Nissan Maxima with black leather that was perfect for four years until I traded it. Too bad Infiniti can't source their leather from the same supplier they used in 2000.

I had a 2006 Ford Escape with leather, and it showed very minor creasing after three years and 60k miles. The G is the worst leather wear I have ever seen on a car, luxury or otherwise. This includes a 1996 Saturn SL2.

Picked up on '09s on Dec 27 and have about 6500 miles on it. Haven't thought to look carefully for seat wear but reading through all these posts has me concerned and going out right now to see if I've got the same BS going on. If it's there, you can bet I'm headed to the dealer on the way home from work. Totally am on board that a $40K car should have nothing close to this happening during warranty period and if it does, warranty should absolutely cover it under the premise of poor material quality and/or poor workmanship. Now I'm all bummed out on the car I friggin love to drive. Mbooooooooo

an update:

Hey guys:

just to let everyone know, I stopped by the Infiniti dealer I bought my car from (which is a 30 minute drive away) and got my game face on to raise hell if they didn't fix the cracked leather on the left bolster....

Amazingly enough, I showed them the problem, stated this is unacceptable and...........

...they said, cheerfully "Not a problem. Your car is under warranty. We will order a new piece to replace the worn one. It'll come about a week. Bring your car in when we call and it shouldn't take long to get fixed."

i was shocked!!! I didn't have to throw a fit at all.

That doesn't fix the seat bottom bolster being kind of worn-looking, but I am still shocked that they were more than happy to fix the issue.

I wonder what kind of loving i'll get from the dealers since i got the red leather. I don't think my chances of getting the seat replace are good if i should start to develope these cracks since red leather is rare?

its good to see this is not only my 09 with 11k miles with cracked leather on the drivers side bolster. I'm going to take car in for service and complain about, well actually get it fixed, if not I will keep the car for a year and go back to Audi...My old Audi A6 leather was creased less than this car that is 8 months old.

The problem is even if they replace it under warranty, how long before the new one starts to get ceases again? A week? two weeks?

That's why i am wondering if bringing it up is even worth it. The problem is with their seat material, not with our seats themselves.

really the most realistic solution is just start conditioning the leather from day 1. give the seats/all the G's leather a good cleaning and conditioning every couple weeks when you wash it.

that's what I've done, and after ~19K miles it is a little more worn than I would like, but it isn't cracked or anything horrible like that.

Actually, the seat material is fine. The problem is the very prominent seat bolsters. There is no way to exit the car without putting weight on the leather covering the bolsters. This creases the leather.

That is the price we pay for having sporty seats. The only solution is to develop an exit style that puts as little weight as possible on the bolster. Also, frequent treatments with leather conditioner will help keep the leather from actually cracking.

The leather will need to split at the creases before the warranty will apply.

yup I have a 08 G35S... everytime I get in and out the car I hold on to the side rail to load my-self in without putting any weight on the bolsters on a sport seat. and I condition it once every two months. Yes! Lexus leather way way better

2012 option... have the outer bolsters on each side fold down flush when you park and turn off the car...
