Seat belts ruined door panels
Seat belts ruined door panels
Hi;
I just had my door panels replaced today due to damage from the seat belts pinching the panels. The dealer said they had not seen this before but replaced them under warranty. Great service considering bad design and several people in forums mentioning this as an issue. Don't think they fixed the issue for the 2010 models. I do like the way the Audi A5 seat belts retract out of the way and into the side panels when you turn the car off.

I read elsewhere some dealers are replacing it. I asked one of the ones near me but they were not aware of any retrofit for the 2010. I think the 2010s are better in this regard for retraction.

Door panels? Excuse my ignorance here but can you be alittle more specific.
Just replacing the panels. I noticed it when I signed the papers before I drove off the lot. Look on the soft "curve" portion of the panel near the back of the door to see if you have it but have not noticed it. I am very **** about my cars and always warn the people riding with me to check the seatbelt latch is not twisted and won't get hung between the door panel and side of the seat.

One of the main reasons I bought a G and I didn't shop the DC beltway or Richmond for price was the best service I ever got was on my J30 bought from Charles Barker Infinity in Virginia Beach VA. They also have an Lexus dealer that has given me good service. On my G vert seat belt issue they basically told me to go jump in the lake. The service person was not rude but certainly did not want to listen. She basically said anyone who said a dealer helped them out on this was lying. She said over and over get me names.
This happens to me as well. When I take off the seat belt, sometimes it'll end up right between the door and the hard part of the side of the seat, and there are a whole bunch of dings in both the door panel and one small chunk coming out of the seat. It really pissed me off, so I'm really careful everytime I get out of the car, because this seems like a ridiculous problem. Will post pictures tomorrow.
