To disassemble.
-Remove the steering wheel
-Flip it over and there are 2 hidden screws inside the back

Yup, thanks for the images. The hidden screws are difficult to access though. Looks like you'll need a offset #2 phillips driver to get to them:

I had almost the same problem with the rubber/ plastic getting cosmetic scratches. Last time I was in at the dealership I pointed it out and they managed to warrant the entire steering wheel out. They said that you have to replace the whole steering wheel to fix that piece, and that its almost a thousand dollars for the steering wheel (but I smelled bull**** on that one).

Needless to say, didn't cost me anything and I got a new steering wheel.

It is actually quite easy to reach. Just a regular screw driver is all you need.

Yup, figured it out. The whole casing on the back snaps out, making the screws easy to access using a regular screwdriver.

I took pics of the process. I'll update in a few weeks once I come back from a trip.

I was thinking about wrapping the steering wheel in alacantra/ultrasuede like my M3 steering wheel, but undecided if I wanna spend that much time stitching.
