To mold or not to mold?

Just curious on your opinions on molding the Autokits-x front lip? I've been told not to since its FG but let me know I would like to have it molded just not sure if its practical.

Unless you plan on slamming your car on the ground everyday you will be fine as far as practicality...

Only other dilemma is bringing your car back to stock..

My vote is GO FOR IT!! It would look amazing...Take pics and post them here if you do.

Well next step is coils but I'm planning on a conservative drop just to eliminate wheel gap, I think I'm going to go for it ..A friend backed into my bumper so I'm hoping I can get the body shop to recommend a new bumper I've been told this one can be fixed though. Anyways I'll post some pics up when its all finished lets just hope I don't destroy it and have to replace the bumper + lip in the near future *knock on wood*

Look wise, it looks 10x better, no matter how good the fitment is, it'll always look like it's two parts

Go for it

I was just in a minor front end collision also and need a new bumper.

I already ordered a lip and my shop will mold it on.

And its not the autokits, although that was an option i considered.

Thumbs up Vote for molded

Can't wait to see it. I think the molded will look great! What colour is your car? Will they then still screw/tape it in?

Shane D

PS: Just noted that your car is also BO. Now I REALLY want to see it.

What plastic compounds do they use to mold? Have you heard of any cases of splitting the finish later?

I think they just drill mad holes in it and line it up.

Honestly I have no idea. I dont do body work like that.

I know if you mold poly to poly using fiberglass, chances are 1 hit and itll crack.

I feel as long as I don't hit any major potholes or anything I'll be fine on top of I'm riding 4x4 right now so I should be good. Anyways , don't curse me with this bad luck ****!

I believe the molding method is some sort plastic welding and then layers of polyurethane sanded to fill any gap and make it sit flush.
