Tint price question...

I was quoted $160 for tint since the G37 is a "pain in the ***" to tint.

and $50 to take the existing tint off (was a pre-owned when i bought it, i didnt tint it)

Do these prices sound right?

And what would be better: 15% all around or 10% all around?

And should I tint the front or is it dangerous? If so, how much would you recommend? Heres a pic of my ride:

Thanks in advance

I think a reasonable shade is anywhere from 30% to 15% depending on how dark you want to go. I personally like the uniform look of same shade in front and rear. As for your windshield, only do it if you go pretty light or else cops are going to hassle you.

The two places in my area charge $280 & $285 for top of the line film with lifetime guarantee. The one place didn't act like the severe slope of the back window was an issue, he said "oh there's plenty of room". That price is for all windows except the windshield. I would look at the laws for your area. Let's face it, the G is a cop magnet so having illegal tint on a G isn't like having it on a Mini Van.

Seriously? That's some pretty high prices. I got my 37 sedan tinted all around for 180 with a lifetime guarantee. It was done at this place called Tint Masters. They did an amazing job, from driver side window all the way around, it was a perfect job. I wouldn't recommend tinting the front. And a 15 all the way around would look nice on yours, I think.

The pricing on tint is very subjective to what type of films the shop uses. Metallic film can run anywhere from $100 - 250 ish and cermatic film can run from anywhere b/w $300 - 600 ish range. The highend film will give your car for heat protection than conventional film. IMO it's really worth going with the good stuff.

I love my wincos tint in 30%!!!

Most places in socal I checked that were reputable quoted anywhere from $200-$400.

I settled with a shop that charged $250. The labor is the major chunk of the price. Some areas are going to be a bit more expensive than others I imagine. Just make sure you get someone that knows what they're doing.

Almost every shop I went to told me to do a shade darker on the rear window in order to make it uniform. Something about the angle of the back window.

I ended up getting 20% on the rear window and 30% on the front 4. It looks uniform... and great!

Good luck

160 is a good price but the 50 for taking it off is too much. Just take it off yourself.

As for the tint i like anywhere from 20% to 30% all round.

For the windshield do something light, like 50%. Just to take the glare off.

10% backs 25% fronts 70% windshield

I love my tint especially the windshield. I didn't want to make the fronts too dark becuse I think it looks classy when you could kinda see into the car, but thats imo. The windshield looks amazing. It doesn't draw attention from the cops but in the shade all you cant see past the dash but in the dark or when its cloudy you cant see into it at all

I've had both and 10% is too dark at night. Currently have 15% all around and it's perfect. Do some research on the shop before you get it done. The prices you listed aren't too bad. I paid $250 for tint and $80 for removal, but this time it was flawless. I had done the same thing before at another dealer and it was an amateur job. Just because you're paing a bit of a premium doesn't guarantee anything... speaking form experience...

a) I think 10% is waaaaaay to dark. 15% is the lowest you should go

2) get the same all around or dont do it at all. IMHO it doesnt look good to have different %'s on different windows (the ONLY exception being the front windshield, go lights on that)

d) only get the front windshield tinted down to the marker that is on the windshield, lower than that and you WILL get pulled over, but more importantly you create a huge safety hazard that will effect not just you but someone you hit.

the prices sound great btw, GL and post pics when you get it done

1) Installer makes a big difference in how good tint will be installed.
So I would recommend that to find experienced installer with good feedback.

2) Stay with darkest legal limit. Why risk going dark and get ticket

3) Price seems very good. But you didn't mention which brand.

Got it done. My car is in the shipping process overseas from FL to Chile.. So once I get my car here in Chile I'll take pics... was last minute tint job..

Ill have to find out what brand... Definetely not 3M though. they wanted something like 50-60 dollars extra for that.

Only problem I see with the tint is the DOT MATRIX. I can see how the tint doesnt stick to it as well, the guy told me to let it dry and run a card and squeegee it out. Doesnt look too bad, but still bothers me a bit.

The tint with my wheels looks really good though, got 5% all around. Cops in Chile arent as **** in the states though I think. I'll find out. The night before I flew to Chile I got pulled for not moving over a lane from a cop that had pulled someone over. It was right after I made a right turn at an intersection, those bastards.
