retrofitted foglights

Hey guys, I need your opinions/feedbacks....

I've been wanting separate foglights that (IMO) should've came stock placed on the faux vents on our S bumpers.

What do you guys think about purchasing OEM Nissan foglights (from the Altima, Xterra, Versa, or Infiniti M, or FX) and retrofit them into the faux vents??

Versa

Xterra

M35/M45

I don't know much about wiring and fabricating so I will have a shop do the work if I go through with it....I want it to be easily accessible when changing out the bulbs.

I want the foglights to have a separate switch that doesn't rely on having the headlights being on.

Where can I draw the power from?

Can any of you headlight guru's (ucla_bruin, Igor, 180 customs) chime in and give your opinions??

Several people have looked into this, including myself. Thre is acouple issues.
1. The vents are on a curved part of the bumper, so you will need some good fab skill to make the fogs point straigt.
2. There is a washer bottle directly behind the passenger side vent that gets in the way.

I was gonna do the same... But I bought a TS lip and the lip covers the faux brake vents... I still have the brand new set of PIAA 1100X lights I was gonna put in there....

GL with this project. Personally, I'd go with the M35/45 lights as the curvature matches more closely with that of the G. Although the ones from the versa might not look bad either.

I'm still surprised no one has created fog light mold for our vents. I'd def. be in line if someone did.

If I recall, Stoof did retrofit foglights with his faux vents.

You could get the Injen washer fluid replacement container. Whether you have Injens or not, just tell them you broke it... maybe they'll sell one as a replacement or something...lol

I still have all the stuff available, a pair of extra faux vents, pair of HID fogs, ballast, wires.....etc.

Are you guys willing to do wiring and routing yourself? If you're looking for molded piece + HID fogs and projector set, it's not gonna be cheap. Probably a good few hundred bucks.

I don't know how many would be willing to do that AND do the wiring since you'd have to for adding HID fogs.

Another issue is the washer fluid bottle clearance, but when I measured it, I think it was doable, but just very tight.

id totally be down if we could do something for the sedan as well. IMO, I dont want or need HID projector fogs. I just want some simple halogens with a yellow bulb.

Paying a few hundred for the kit would be reasonable. I think the do it yourself wiring might be an issue though; at least for me

^That was the main concern. Because there will be multiple connections that would need to be made, and mounting the ballast, tucking away the wires.....etc.

i think you will probably find that the simple non-hid/non-projectors halogen fog lamp kits will also be slimmer and compact.

just something to ponder with this possible project...you'd also have to consider that you would most likely be replacing the lights quite often b/c all the rocks that cause rock chips can/will crack and break the front glass on the lights.

I definitely think it would look legit, just some things to consider

Because they're mounted low on most vehicles, it'd be safe to assume they're fitted with a high-impact acrylic or such.
