Used it ok as long as its in mint condition. im looking for a spare to have painted. I see thats its a common thing to paint them on here...whats the best way to have it done to avoid bad/easy chips?

I painted mine with Duplicolor primer, gloss black, and clear coat and it came out really well. Unfortunately it's been sold for a while, but as far as how to do it for inexpensive:

--scuff off the chrome
--2 coats primer
--3-4 coats whatever color you want
--2-3 coats clear coat

hope that helps

I took i to a body shop and they painted it real nice, I drove it for 7 months hard with no chips even crashed head on doing 50 didnt even chip, The grille can be sanded so takes the paint well..... so get it done right and you wont have to worry bout it at all

yea, i definitly will have it done right the first time..professionally too...i dont mind spending a little extra money. especially since this isnt a honda, its a $45k car so 100 bucks is nothing for it. I want to keep my stock grill on the side just incase for any reason i need it so i want to get my hands on a spare.....

PS. look great^ especailly keeping the chrome to match the headlights on a black car. But i want to do it all black, ive seen various all black ones on white cars and i like it alot more. If i was to go that route i would buy the midnight one, so instead i want to get a stock one and do the whole thing!

Took mine to a body shop. Sanded, painted, coated/sealed for $100. 19 months and still perfect. Lots of threads on this.

No one answered the second question you had.
Where to get a spare grille.
You can buy the grille and emblem, they are separate pieces.

Check ebay. I got one off there for cheap. Still haven't gotten around to painting it though.

Just a suggestion, you could just buy the stock midnight grill too.
