Turning on HIDS

Wow, these lights are awesome. I've had HIDS in my old cars as an aftermarket kit, and they don't compare at all to the stock HIDS. These lights have solid visibility!!

Well anyways, I was just curious. Do you guys just keep it on auto? I really dont like the lights turning on during the day, as it gets dark sometimes when it rains everyday, but not dark enough to need them on.

Also when putting the lights into the regular on spot, does the auto headlight get triggered, since you have to pass it on the ****? Or does it take a few seconds to activate anyways? I wasn't sure if when im turning them on to the "normal" on button, if im actually flicknig them on twice, since I'm passing the auto on/off.

Thanks, I love you guys!

Just keep it off and when it get's dark enough, turn it on.

Yeah, it did. Just not HIDS.

Hehe. I wasn't sure if when you turn the **** past auto if it flickers on twice, which could be sorta bad.

Also has anyone on here changed the color of the bulb? To something like 6000k?!

I just keep it on the auto. I don't see any harm to keep that way.
Btw, you can change the sensitivity of your lights at the setup if you don't want it to be turned on so many times.

Stock has the most light output.. but yes i have 6000k. The color is a little bit whiter, and looks more awesome-er. Do it! lol

When I turn them on at night I put them to AUTO so they don't flicker on twice moving to ON and so they won't flicker twice as I turn the OFF. I figure there's no benefit going all the way to ON unless it's daytime and raining and I want them ON.

Same here always on auto, I only turn them on manually not all the way ON, when I want to show off the LED corner lights LOL, but I don't do it too often.

I've had tha headlights on auto since I first turned the lights on back on August 20, 2007. I actually get pretty angry when the valet/car wash guy shuts them off....

BTW Fogs have been on since day one too...just adjust the sensitivity to your preffered setting...

No problems to reprort....

I don't like having the lights come on when I drive in or start the car in the garage just to turn off a minute later, not good for the bulbs. So I leave mine off and switch it to auto when it's dark.

The Auto settings would have been ideal if it wasn't so sensitive; even when turning the sensitivity settings to the minimum the lights come on within 2 seconds when low light conditions are encountered. So the lights keep switching on and off when driving under freeway junctions and underpasses.
The automatic headlights on Lexus vehicles are much less sensitive, there is a delay of at least 10 seconds before the headlights come on when low light conditions are encountered.

you can leave the parking light on and drive with the city light (front), the 'auto battery saver' will turn the light off after engine is shut off, turn on the HIDs if you need to, put it back to parking lights and don't have to worry about HIDs flicker once or twice.

does anyone have same problem of the auto headlite switch turning off? We have found the auto headlight position turned to off on several occasions & don't believe either of us had turned the auto switch to another position.
However, that switch is extremely sensitive and, when using the turn signal, I think the headlamps on/off/auto position can too easily be changed. In our case, it goes to "off". Not good.
Last nite, we discovered our headlights off when it was dark enough for them to be on. The position was indeed in "auto". We have been lulled into believing the auto feature is always on, so now realize something might be wrong.
Looks like one needs to recheck this feature every time one starts up the car or face being a bit less safe under low light conditions when you assume your lights have come on. I also wonder if the lights come on when it's raining during daylight hours if position is in "auto".
Any comments appreciated.

there's about a 5 second delay when you go from a situation of a lot of light to dark. the sensor is on the dash facing up.

if it begins dark the car will turn them on instantly. but if you're driving like on a highway and go under an overpass the car won't turn them on unless you're in there for like 2-3 seconds. they typically don't turn on for me when it's raining unless it's near the evening lighting condition.

i've never had a situation where the lights turned off when it's dark. that'd suck.. cause the lights on the IP are pretty bright when they go back to daylight... ha ha
