Reinstalling the Headlight Amber
So I just could not decide what lighting mod to get or if I wanted to paint my entire headlights. Everytime I just about decided, Igor or Danny would come out with something new and cool just making it harder for me to decide.
But I did absolutely hate the amber. It even became worse once I powdercoated by brakes. I could not decide between painting the amber (1) BO, (2) matte black, or (3) Nite-Shades. And I wanted to be able to easily return to stock amber if I hated all three or got busted during vehicle inspection.
So here is what I did. I got two extra sets of amber from Igor and put one set away to return to OEM if I ever wanted to.
I painted one BO and didn't like it so stripped it and painted it matte black. Here is a pic....and I will explain the red circle in a minute.

I am not the best painter so I did not trust myself to paint the amber without taking it out. Since I wanted to be able to swap ambers in the future, I used three small screws to hole the amber in after I painted it. In the picture above is a red circle which is where the amber has a small tab on the backside that holds the amber to the housing. Then with 3 small screws it is firmly in place. Just used a dremel to make the screw holes of the right size. You can see the scres in the picture below.

Adding a picture of the matte black on the car. And yes it leaked first time.

So now I am driving around with one side matte black and one side amber still trying to decide what I like.
Update on 6/13: Decided on Matte Black after trying BO, Flat Black, Niteshades. Fixed the moisture problem too.

Update on 6/17: I got everything all put back together and installed on the car. Looks good, but too dark for good pictures. Will take some soon. However, I learned a couple more things I thought I would share. When I fixed the water leak, I took out the first piece of black painted amber. Here is a picture of the one I took out where you can see why I changed it.

I used a primer and acrylic lacquer to paint it. The "wrinkles" are right where the light bulb is. I concluded, right or wrong, that the high heat from the OEM bulb caused shrinkage in the primer and/or the paint. So what I did was paint the next piece of amber without using a primer and I installed an LED bulb to lower the heat.
However, it you look at any of the OEM bulbs they have a small indentation that helps them stay in the socket. Here is a picture of what I am talking about.

Several have posted that some of the LED bulbs do not have that indentation and can have a tendancy to come loose from the sockets. So I took the dremel with a small bore bit and cut a small indentation on each side of the LED bulbs that I had. Worked perfectly and made the bulb "click" into the socket. Here is a picture of the bit.

Yeah. Got 1 darn fingerprint in there as well on the clear area. So I was kinda glad to get the moisture so it gave me a reason to open it up again. Did one light at a time just in case I screwed it up. Like most things, it got easier the second time and hoping there is not a third time.

Good idea. Thanks.
I wipe and looked over and over. Got the silver all good, but missed the plastic clear piece above the turnsignal.

Ahh, I can't see the pics at work. But I'd say black is best. I have spare ambers if you want it, just pay for shipping. Let me know if you need help with sealing it back up and a painless way to remount the ambers to the housing without drilling or screws
Btw, none of that info will cost you anything because I'm not a vendor
