Headlight Condensation

Has anyone had any issues with their headlights (unmodified) having condensation on the inside?

I have noticed at the top of my lights, on the fender edge, approximately three inches of condensation. Yes....both sides.

I could understand one side possibly having an issue, but both?

The likelihood of me catching it on a day I can take to the dealer is going to be difficult.

This morning it was three degrees out and it looked like frost on the inside of the lenses.

I guess I will attempt to take a picture of it so I can show the dealer. They better replace both headlight housings.......

Yea man take a picture of it next time.. Kinda odd... My 2004 TL would have condensation in the headlights too, and the dealer replaced them after trying to re-seal them and made them worse...

Tellem to replace them though!

If the dealership replaces them, ask if you can have the old ones back. Then give them to me!!

Maybe tomorrow morning there will be some good evidence to take a picture.

While filling up with gas this evening, I checked them with a bright flashlight and the left side shows evidence of water spots.

Unbelievable!!!

Dude, try and take it in when it happens, rather than pictures. I had pictures AND videos of my clutch sticking on my old G35, and they refused service. They said they couldn't do anything based on "videos" and they needed to reproduce it themselves... Wow.

i don't recall reading about any issues about leaking headlights though... I assume you never took them apart?

Nope....bone stock. Which is kind of funny in a way. I have wanted (and still do) to either get them painted black or get the overlays.

I just knew the minute I spent any money on them, something would happen and they would get replaced, and I'd be out the $$$.

it happened in the morning, right?

I suppose you could leave the car at the dealership and see if they notice anything in the morning. Good thing you didn't touch the lights, or they probably would have given you a hard time.

Yes....I saw the "frost" this morning and I believe the day I saw the moisture was also in the AM but it wasn't three degrees that day.

You shouldn't be getting condensation on unmodified/unopened headlights. If opened and not resealed properly, I'd say it is likely.

As already recommended, take some pics and share with your dealer.

Well had an errand to run this morning. Checked the lights. Passenger side had moisture, driver side not so much. After my errand I stopped by the dealer. The service manager was there and, well we have an understanding, anyway he came out and looked at it. Said he would get the passenger light on order and would call the engineer to discuss on Monday to see if it was something they were seeing regularly.

Our history is they damaged the car during a free car wash Saturday. So, they know me and want to keep me happy.

Hopefully, the driver side will get worse and they will see it soon. Sucks to have to take it in twice. Wished he would just replace both but I understand he has to see it.

Oh, I do have it somewhat lucky.....the dealer is about two miles away from Nissan North Americas HQ!!! They are always out to impress.

I'll keep you updated on this situation.

Yeah this is the first I have heard of this on our cars. Especially on unaltered heads.

Well, the Service Manager called me back. He spoke with the engineers and they have not seen this issue. However, they wanted him to replace both lights and send him the "damaged" ones. Both driver and passenger lights have been ordered. No ETA on arrival.

I have now had the new headlights installed for just over a week. Yup....both were replaced!!

Service manager indicated the engineers were going to take mine and install them on one of their cars to see if they can figure out why they were getting condensation in them.

Hopefully these units will not start doing it too!!!
