Help!! on headlights
hey i have question has anyone removed the housing on the headlights... if so is it easy and does it ever mess up because im trying to paint my housing of my headlights but want to knw how hard and if anything i need to knw before doing it... And how hot those ur oven have to be to bake the seals on ... If anyone has a detailed directions how to do this it will be great... thanks alot

it's actually very simplistic and difficult to kill your headlights if you are safe.
remove all bulbs and ballast.
remove all exterior trim and screws
oven set to 285F.
bake at 285F for 10 minutes.
make sure the lights are touching NOTHING in the over except the cookie sheet it's on (or whatever).
gently pry the housing apart.
remove each interior piece, mask where necessary, sand, prime, paint.
reassemble.
squeeze together the housing shells.
bake for 5 minutes at 285F.
resqueeze, and insert and tighten all screws.
reinstall bulbs and ballast.
remove all bulbs and ballast.
remove all exterior trim and screws
oven set to 285F.
bake at 285F for 10 minutes.
make sure the lights are touching NOTHING in the over except the cookie sheet it's on (or whatever).
gently pry the housing apart.
remove each interior piece, mask where necessary, sand, prime, paint.
reassemble.
squeeze together the housing shells.
bake for 5 minutes at 285F.
resqueeze, and insert and tighten all screws.
reinstall bulbs and ballast.

If I were you, I'd pay Ig0r to do it if you've never done it before. It's not impossible, but it's not exactly easy. It is something that you could easily mess up and ruin your lights which are expensive. If you want to practice, buy a super cheap junkyard set of lights from something older to practice on would be my suggestion. Better yet, leave it to the pros.

alrite thxs alot ... but have one question does the chrome melt off or u need to sand it off??
