Hood Pins?
Hood Pins?
For those of you who are running aftermarket hoods w/ hood pins, where did you mount them? I can't seem to find good spots on either side, and I am NOT drilling holes into my car. I'll only drill into the hood for the pins, THAT'S IT.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Personally, I am indifferent about the "looks" of it. A CF hood looks great on the car without hood pins, obviously. Some people feel hood pins make the car less attractive, for me I don't mind them. I want to put them on for safety reasons, and my peace of mind.

If you are going to run hood pins you dont need the strikers on either side of the hood. I took those out, and used one of the holes from its mounting point. No I dont have pictures, I did it on a car at SEMA. If you show me a picture of an engine bay, or take a picture of yours I can circle the holes that I used for you.
AllThrottle, The holes around the side strike catches are too small for the rods I bought. Is that where you mounted the rods? What brand pins did you install? I bought the Sparco pins, btw.
The only spot I found is circled in the pic below, and the rod would have to come up very close to the edge, on the angled part of the hood.
What do you think?

Sorry, just got back into town last night from a long Thanksgiving weekend without internet.
Anyway, I circled the holes that I was talking about below.

It was one of the 3 in the green, I believe it was the one in the blue that I used. Again, you don’t need that mechanism on your car anymore if you are going to have hood pins. Granted, you won’t have much of a defense against anyone just popping your hood open, but if they really want in there, they will get in there regardless if you have the mechanism still intact.
I completely removed the locking system that these 3 bolts hold onto, and put the hood pin bolt there.
Hope that helps
