Question AFS Headlight question

What is necessary to make regular headlights AFS headlights? Is it hardware only, i.e. if you were to swap a pair of AFS headlights into a non AFS car, would they function?

I'm pretty sure that you would need the AFS headlights, all of the steering sensors that tell the lights which way to turn and level out when the car is loaded. Not quite sure how those sensors would be added to a car without AFS.

Good point. I doubt that the steering angle sensor is in cars without Tech package. I'll have a complete pair of AFS headlights available soon.

Damn you finangle...its my car with the AFS! I am totally going to repeat what you said and add nothing to this thread...

There is a gray harness for AFS headlights which I dont think is as easy as plugging it in somewhere. Plus its hard to find AFS lights unless you are willing to pay a lot more.

Hope I added something to this thread...

I wouldn't even bother, you're looking at at least $3K+, absolutely not worth it.

there are more sensors than just harness. The car needs to know your travel speed and steering angle and they are not just senors, there is a AFS ECU that is necessary to make it work.

For clarification, I already HAVE the Tech package with AFS. I purchased a second set of AAAFS headlights to have painted and swap out with mine so I have no downtime waiting for the work to be performed and shipment there and back. I was asking becasue I wasn't sure if anyone without AFS would be able to buy my original lights and use them once I install the new ones. It seems the short answer is yes, they could use them but no, the AFS won't work for them.

That is correct. See what kind of hassle could have been avoided if you had clearly stated your intentions in the first post? LOL.
