Removing Ventureshield Clear Bra

Ok, because I'm a dumbass, I managed to scratch the left lip of my car. I just got off my part-time job and I was really tired and I didn't notice this tiny curb at a parking garage. Now my clear bra is messed up (it ripped about 4"). Paint is scratched as well.

Now I want to remove the clear bra so I can have the lip repainted. Does anyone here know how to remove a ventureshield bra? Do I simply heat up the edge a little bit and then pull at an angle? I'm just worried because it's a single piece which covers the entire front end of the car.

I called the guy who installed the bra but he wants to charge me $90 just to remove it.

Thanks!

How long have you had the clear bra on? I'd be more afraid of pulling off the paint!! That's what happened to me and it was only on for a couple of days/a week max!!

Good luck. Let us know what happens to your paint if anything.

I've had the bra for about 10 months already. Yeah, that's what I'm really worried about. But then again, I have no choice but to remove it. Btw, how did you remove the bra? You just peeled it off?

dang, i would just leave it on. it wouldnt be smart to take it off, then repaint it, then put it back again for a 4inch scratch.

You need to heat it. Are you removing it and never putting another one on?? You could remove around the bad part only if you can see a good place to seam it unnoticably. Maybe pay the guy to remove the area in question, then have it repaired and have him patch back in. Good luck

Just heat it up and pull it off. The only time you have to worry about the paint pulling is if it was put on before the paint had time to cure... or if its a crappy paint job. I have been installing this stuff for years and have never pulled the paint... except once on and RV. I had to replace a kit due to a colision. It turns out that most RV manufacturers apply the film immediately after the RV has been painted. Pretty stupid really but I guess it would take a huge booth to cure it in.

The dealers did a shotty job of installing my clear when I bought my car. They ended up re-doing the whole clear bra but in the process of taking it off the paint was pulled and they had to repaint my whole front bumper...Infiniti soft paint for ya.
