custom vinyl overlays

so i've looked at some cars on here, and i personally LOVE the overlay that goes on the roof of the car....

but, the question is, how durable are they? I heard something about sand and dirt can get under the overlays and scratch the paint up real bad? Are they easy to install (as in, could i do it myself easily?) and if you mess up putting it on, how easy is it to take off and put back on?

The durability depends on who you get it from. The one from bluebatmobile is a 7-year rated vinyl. I'm not too sure about how it affecst the paint though. If you're that curious, you should go onto g35driver.com and ask any G35 owners if they got the overlay and have taken it off.

The only hard part about installing the overlay is doing the fin.

^^My experiences with the head and tail overlays says that if you can get someone who knows how to do them.....go that rought. If not, Patience is the key. I effed up 2 sets before I got it right.

Something like this, I would definitley leave it to someone with experience working with vinyl, especially working the vinyl onto the fin.

If you don't have experience, it's easier to just buy a black fin for $13. The fin was difficult to do even for the experienced guys.

I didn't, madflasher did. I saw it in person, looks perfect, painted black. I think he got it from Riverside Infiniti.

One of my customers did a diy install guide:

http://auto.badtziscool.com/how-tos/...-roof-overlay/

Patience is the key . If you're in SoCal I have an installer here in San Diego thats done at least 25 G37's to date! I also have an installer in New York, New Jersey, and Georgia. I'm looking for more good installers as well, so if you guys know of any in your part of the country, let me know .

You shouldnt get sand or dirt underneath if applied correctly. I've been making them since last summer and the first car to have it, the roof overlay looks as good as the first day it was installed. You can lightly wax and quick detail the vinyl with no problems .
