gettin a new trans and passenger seat

So.. I took my car to the dealership yesterday morning because of 2 reasons..

1-Passenger airbag light doesn't turn off when someone sits in the seat.
2-Loud noise coming from the transmission, if i press on the clutch noise goes away.

Dealer ran some tests and stuff and they said the noise was coming from inside the transmission and they are shocked to see that with a G37 with 6000miles on it. They are going to replace the whole thing i guess. The passenger airbag has never worked since i bought the car, i finally had time to take it to them. They said the sensor inside the seat wasn't triggering the airbag on/off.

New pass seat = $2300
Transmission = $1900

I thought the sound from the trans was normal no? I have a 6MT also and noticed it makes a sound when I release the clutch in Neutral... Like the gears or something spinning freely but when you put the clutch in it goes away... I thought it was normal tho... Is that the same sound you had? Replacements were covered under your warranty right?

Mine has the same noise. Sounds like a rough idle with clutch out. Put the clutch in and everything goes back to normal.

Wow... fattah was it a really loud noise or just moderate... I would say mine is at a moderate level... Not loud enough for people to ask what the noise was but loud enough for me to faintly hear it with the windows down...

I have that noise too....same set of criteria...clutch in=no noise...clutch out=noisy whirring sound

just started noticing it lately....couldn't remember if I just didn't notice it before or if it came on recently....

It definitely doesn't sound "right"

guess I need to take it in...

all of a sudden this car is feeling like it's got more issues than it should...my list...

infamous "bubble" on the drivers seat
TPMS sensor that needs reset or replaced
this tranny thing...that may need replacement?

UGH...

yeah i guess i wouldn't say loud.. but yes, if you got the window down or even if youdont you can still hear it.. its just annoying.. i was chillin in my car the other day for a couple hours while the car was in neutral and thats all we heard, soooo annoying. i guess you could say, moderate lever noise, but still shouldnt be like that

fattah thats very odd - im not sure if i have that noise ive never noticed it...so you're saying like when the car is idling you hear it but when u press the clutch in you don't hear it?? I have clue as to whether I have it since you live so close can you come by and see if you hear the same noise bro? or i can meet with u or somethin' lol...cause if so I can go to the same techs and get a new tranny lol.

f.uck thats so weird ima go and listen for it now....

Lastly - do u think you've had this noise/issue since day 1 or has it formed within the last couple thousand miles?
