Admitting Defeat

So after reading all the threads on changing out the parking lights/city lights I felt confident I could do it.

Sad to say that I was defeated. Not sure if my hands are just too big or I'm not doing something right. The air box is in the way. Even when I removed the bolt securing it to the fender and pushed it an inch or so over(thats as far as it would go). I forced my hand down into the car and felt the "stem" that holds the light in place. I couldn't (for the life of me) get my fingers wrapped around it right to turn it counter clockwise to remove.

If anyone in Houston has done this already and has time one weekend and likes beer. Let me know. I could use some help.

Round one to the the G

Perhaps I misunderstood some of the threads then. I didn't realize you remove the entire airbox. I need to take another look then to see just how many screws/bolts hold the airbox in place.

undo the hose clamp and pull up. i think it is only one the one bolt. the mount under the box is a rubber grommet that holds a prong protruding from the bottom of the airbox. also, unbolt the washer fluid fill tube and move it over.

I'll take another look. Probably next weekend. Hate to admit that I was at it for a couple of hours.

haha it happens, It took me two tries as well. I removed the tire, and took the fender cover off to do it. Not just pull it back, took the whole thing off was easy enough.

I wouldn't bother if I were you. I took the entire airbox out and removed the washer reservoir filler neck and it was still impossible for me to get my hands where they needed to be to change them out. I'll either get someone to do it for me or do it whenever I have to take the wheels off and go in through there.

Thanks guys. I'll give it another try this weekend. For those taking advantage of it, have a good spring break.

**Eureka**

I took the day off and was able to install the LED's!!! Removing the airbox was not difficult at all and the entire project took about 45 minutes + many cuts and scratches.

Will post pics as it gets darker.

Hooray for you. I may try it again without taking off the wheels. I wish I had a better relationship with the service department at CLI and could convince them to do it for me when I have the wheels off tomorrow getting brakes worked on.
