Paint issues?

Hi guys I have been debating which car to buy over the past few months and after the pricing of the new 1 series I have happily chosen the g37. I used to own a 05 g35c and I spoke to a salesman at MotorWerks in Barrington Illinois and he said that Infiniti admitted that they had issues with their red paint in the past. Has anyone else herd of this? I thought my red paint was garbage and he stated that it was only the red and they fixed the issue. My concern is I dont want to buy a new g37 and have similar issues if one of the colors is worse than another. The whole thing sounds like bs to me and Ive herd over and over nissan's paint is soft and has issues. I was debating between red and ip although I just saw the blue and my jaw dropped. Any feedback on your paint would be greatly appreciated. (And by the way I detail cars and am aware of how to properly take care of paint so that is not the issue)

Its still soft my friend. Still soft. I never had paint so delicate and I have cared for many a car. From my parents to siblings, friends etc. These are great colors but require lots of TLC an care.

The new EX has supposedly "self healing" paint. Wonder if the '09 G37 will get that paint too.

Laser Red had the worst problems with paint. My service manager mentioned a number of instances where customers had their cars repainted. However, this is not to say that Infiniti paint is much better for the other colors. The paint is very weak and can easily chip and scratch. If this is an issue, stay away from Infiniti. Up to this point they have not improved on paint.

Actually, it's the clear coat that is "self-healing" on the EX and that is supposed to help prevent swirls and very minor scratches. However, the paint of the EX is supposed to be scratch resistant.

Too bad that they didn't introduce these special protectants with the G37.

This is one of the main reasons that I am looking at ip since lighter colors are easier to take care and you can now get the graphite with ip. Must say in Chicago I still have not seen many 37s so I cant say what is the most popular color here but for the 35 it was black and silver. If there is anyone in Chicago who bought there cars recently I am wondering how much you spent versus sticker and where you bought them. I just cant wait to get out of this rsx type s so I can have some power below 6,000 rpms!

While its a few hours east of Chicago, I purchased my G37 for $1300 less than MSRP a couple weeks ago at Infiniti of Fort Wayne, Indiana. I could have probably gotten even less if I wanted one of the G37s that they had on the lot. Since they had to transport the car roughly five hundred miles from another dealer, that was about as low as they could go.

They did have at least one Ivory Pearl (don't know the interior or options) on the lot when I was there. It was really nice looking and almost made me second guess my decision to go with the Blue Slate.

If you want the contact info of the salesman that I dealt with, send me a PM.

In any case, good luck on getting your G!
Steve
