HID Color

Does anyone else think the HID's on the G37 have a slight yellowish tint? I am used to acura CL/TL/TSX color which is a nice white/blue shade... but the G37 seems pretty yellow to me, almost like halogen (and yes im looking at the low beams not the fogs or high beams)

Also, we have bi-xenon right? That means high beams are also HID? They look even more yellow to me than the low beams

I've noticed this too. I think it has to do more with the fresnel lenses than the actual bulbs. And yes, they are bi-xenons.

The high beam and low beams come from the same bulb (bi-xenon)...so except for the low beam cutoff, the color should be the exact same....

Pics? I'd like to see what the 8K looks like through the fresnel lenses.

I agree actually, from inside the car the lights look yellowish after they have warmed up a bit. I looked at them from the outside and they are indeed a pure white, but for some reason it just looks yellowish when bouncing off the back of another car. Not sure if you have this in the US, but the DRL's are on in the daytime as well as when I put the lows on. So I'm thinking the DRL's being a halogen yellow might drown out the color a bit. I've seen the 07 G35 lights at night as well and they are definitely a white/blue, I would believe that the same headlights would be in our G37's as well.

Was your car imported from the US? My understanding is (from reading the g37 service manual, and from other typical canadian vehicles) that the DRL's will turn off if the low-beams are turned on.
Another general characteristic of an originally-equipped DRL vehicle is that they dont turn on until the handbrake is released...

one thing people need to remember is the higher kelvin or K you go on the HIDS the less usable light you will have. The higher the K gives you more color but less light. The highest I would put in a car is 6200k at the most. I am fine with the stock HIDS as they give me the amount of usable light i want.

I had 12,000K on my tC and I couldn’t see crap; I’m loven the 4,something K on the G37.
