Can it be done?

Is it possible to that someone could make a....something... that would make the brake lights light up in a pattern?
I was behind a new mustang the other day and when he pressed the brake the lights lit up in sequence inside to outside and then when he let off the brake they went out in the opposite order.
Is there a way to do something cool with our brake lights? Light up in half circles top to bottom or something?
Is it legal? How much would it cost?
Do we have anyone here who could do it? I would be first in line to purchase and be a test subject.....
Just a thought....

I have been thinking about this myself. I thought about using an accelerometer and making the circular LEDs light in a clockwise fashion with a speed relative to deceleration. Actually, light all of them and make one dark and rotate that dark one relative to deceleration. It is do-able, but would require a fair amount of work.
