G37 Fit and Finish Issues !!!

I went to a dealer in SoCal on Saturday and they had 8 cars on the lot. I spent about an hour looking at the cars (the only colour they didn't have was IP). By the way this is the 10th time I dropped by to see the G37 (3 test drives so far). Anyways, here is fit problem I found: The front right quarter panel, exactly where it meets the front bumper (over the headlight cluster) is not cut right. All the cars have the same problem. It's just that the lighter colors show is a bit more. I was never pleased with the way the bumper met the quarter panel over the headlights on the 07 G35 sedan when it came out. So I don't know what the hell Infiniti is thinking!!!! Don't they have a quality control department.

Unfortunately I didn't have my camera to take some close up pictures. So I want you guys (the lucky ones who got 1 already) to run to your garage (JK) or wherever the car is parked and get some close up pics. You could probably get 2 pics from both sides. The left side is fine everything looks right. But the right side is where the problem is. I just wanted to share this with you all. I hope Infiniti will make the adjustment for the cars to be manufactured. By the way does anyone know who should be contacted here for these kinda of issues?

This thread could possibly be stickied for other problems found in the future!

Isn't that the eft side though? I see a slight issue with how it meetd in that picture. The rear bumper of the demo that I saw at infiniti dealership had a small issue on the right side of where the rear bumper meets the rear quarter panel at the wheel well.
But on the blue G37 that I saw at the dealership, I didn't notice any issues.

i looked but see no issues like that with my car. the only thing i found which i posted about was the door handle trim getting scratched if you mess with the seat controls with the door closed and if you have a ring or a watch on your left hand.

I am more worried about the black spot in the middle of that hood.

I have looked at my G37 and it does meet better at that joint than the car in the pic. The pieces seem to meet more centered with less offset toward the headlight. The car in the pic is not perfect, but I would not let that bother me. It might could be adjusted?

That was my only gripe about the interior. It is hard to reach the seat controls with the door closed. I wish they had placed the seat controls on the door itself or center console. Everything else was nicely done... but hey how often will you have to reach down there and with the memory system you will rarely have to reach down there at all.

Well it depends how you look at it. If you are standing in front of the car, it would on the right hand side. But I believe the correct term for that would be the drivers side.

As you can see in the picture, the bumper seems to be having a sharp edge. But if you look closer, you would notice a gap between the quarter panel and the headlights as the move towards the bumper. I think it would be best to have a picture of the passenger side also for comparison

black spot was a shadow of a bug that subsequently landed on the hood right after the photo.

i don't really see any misalignment when i look at my car, but hey, maybe you guys are better judges.

Hmm, that is an odd one although why are others not seeing this like you are? Sounds like you are Infiniti's new quality controller or tire kicker at least.

It might be an idea to buy an existing car on the lot that you can see doesn't have this issue versus ordering if it bothers you that much.

BTW, left and right on cars are always described from the drivers point of view.

the side skirts on the red g37 that was at the local preview event didn't sit flush with the car in the back, anyone notice this on theirs?

haha, read post #7.

I believe it is a problem with the manufactured quarter panel, so all cars would have that issue until they fix it. I could probably be their quality controller if they can afford it of course

Man I need to see some better pics. Maybe I'm blind but I don't see anything. Judging by that I'm going to assume this isn't a huge glaring fitment issue and we're just nitpicking at this point...

I know everyone is nitpicking. Im a car enthusiast like most of us on these forums. But I cant notice anything. I mean why is everyone trying to find something wrong with the car. IMO its close to being perfect its pretty much the best Infiniti car you can buy for the price. Its not a Ferrari where its suppose to be the most perfect car on the planet. But in its class it sure does come close.

I honestly can't see much in those pics either. I can't imagine Infiniti having any fit and finish issues with the G37, afterall it's virtually the same as the Sedan and that's been out for almost a year now.

I have to admit I don't see anything wrong with the picture you've provided either. Maybe you should grab your camera and go back to the dealership to take some close up pictures of what you're talking about?
