G37 GTR Gauges: Fall 2024 Update
I'm not sure as the beta test has just started on @hexotic G37.
We are validating the gauges are accurate on the AWD G37.
I know it works well on the 6MT (my car!) as that has been tested in different formats for a few years.
Please be patient! I'm not an engineer or a programmer, so I want to make sure they work as expected and don't cause any issues.

Hi Frank / @MotorvateDIY
Thanks for explanation.
it sounds like there are two pieces of HW that need to be installed in order to read the oil pressure:
1. The GTR converter, which resides inside the car
2. The Bluetooth sensor server which resides in the engine bay.
Both contain electronics and require power to communicate with one another wirelessly over BLE.
Where is the actual pressure being taken from? Is the BLE sensor part of a plate that is sandwiched between the oil filter, or is it leveraging the existing oil pressure sending unit?
Are you also promoting on the 370Z community?
Mike

Sorry for the delay, I didn't see this until today.
Your summary is correct.
The GTR converter is powered by the OBD 2 port and turns on/off with the car. No power draw when the car is off!
The "Bluetooth Sensor Server" is in a small (~3 x 4") waterproof enclosure. This connects to the oil pressure sensor, is located under the hood, (maybe by shock tower?) provides power, reads the analog values and sends them to the GTR converter using Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE)
For the oil pressure sensor, they are not part of the kit. With international shipping, it just makes it more expensive AND in the US you have many good options. A list will be provided.
You can use almost any 150psi sensor that has the standard 3 pin "Packard Connector" AND you can connect it to your sandwich plate or replace the factory oil pressure switch.
The factory location is the best, as it measures oil pressure after the oil filter. Pressure sensors installed in sandwich plate measure pressure before the oil filter. I suspect a 3-5 PSI difference depending on oil filter, oil temp, and engine RPM.
In the spring, I'll add a second oil pressure sensor and a sandwich plate to find out what the pressure difference is, by oil temp, engine RPM and a few different filters)
My oil pressure switch has been disconnected for just over 2 years now and replaced with a Honeywell PX3 150 PSI industrial grade (calibrated output from -20C/-40F to 125C/257F) pressure sensor.
Anyone who doesn't want to leave the oil pressure switch disconnected, and easily add a "Tee" and have both.
The Bluetooth Sensor Server will be powered by one of the wires for the windshield washer pump (the one that has power when engine is running... aka ignition power) and a ground, which is easily found.
I'm still waiting for some parts (6 week national postal strike!) to verify perfect operation when pump is running (electrical noise), and I will install and test in the new year.
The top priority of the GTR gauges is ease of install, which means reducing any wiring to a minimum.
The GTR gauges are powered by the OBD port, and the Bluetooth Sensor Server only needs a cable to be plugged into the oil pressure sensor and 2 wires to be connected, washer pump/ignition power and ground.
As for the 370 folks, I have been updating them (the370.com, and on a few Facebook 370 groups) on the progress and told them that the G37 beta testing is first, then the 370.
After all, from what I have seen, if it works on the G37, it should work on the 370, and a few other models that have the same navigation system,

It is a module that has a 10 bit analog to digital converter (ADC) to convert the analog voltage of the oil pressure to a digital value and a Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) "system on chip" (SOC) using Texas Instruments CC2540 IC, that sends the data to the GTR gauges module 10 times per second.
Typically the Bluetooth Sensor Server connects to the GTR Gauges module in 0.8 seconds, so by the time the nav system power up, it is displaying BLE data.

Is there any further update on this @MotorvateDIY ?

I'm interested... Is the project on hold @MotorvateDIY ?

I'm back after 3 years! Are we there yet???
So I had a sedan, 2013x and my last obsession was this modification! Shortly after I went Volvo☺️
I now have an 09 coupeX.
Please tell me we have GTR gauges finally!
How do I get them and what has changed???
