Volume bar keeps popping up

My 2014 Q60 just began exhibiting this strange issue....when I'm driving, the volume bar keeps popping up on the infotainment display, it's almost as if there's a glitch in my steering wheel controls/clockspring, or the radio panel.....it usually doesn't change the volume much....and it's not the speed sensitive volume....

I've nearly ruled out steering wheel because it doesn't seem to do it when the car isn't moving....I'm thinking there's a loose solder joint somewhere....

Anyone had this issue?

There have been reports in the past of the volume dial exhibiting strange behavior at times. I believe @rotarymike had issues with his volume and ended up replacing the whole volume encoder switch/ dial. I know on my car, sometimes the HVAC temperature dial gets a little temperamental at times.

Does the dial feel "wobbly," loose, or abnormal? Can you replicate the problem by touching, NOT turning, the dial?

You can remove the switch panel and check the solder connections. It could be the issue. In the end, the easiest solution would be to replace the switch panel. There are tons on eBay and they are not ridiculously overpriced. Just keep in min that going this route you must match NAV vs. non-NAV panels- they are NOT interchangeable.

Glad to hear someone has had similar issue, because when I search this topic, the results are mostly Grom or Tesla Tablet related.

The problem just began. Everything feels fine, only seems to happen when the car is moving. I kind of did suspect the encoder **** in the front panel too once I realized I couldn't replicate the issue just by turning the steering wheel, which was my initial assumption. I guess I could just wait for it to get worse.

It'll be a pisser if this car is subject to poor solder joints, I have heard that the cluster has backlighting issues when older. Ugh.... Which makes me wonder how glitchy will pandemic era vehicles be?

The one good thing about the modular nature of the infotainment, that front panel should be an easy swap/fix.

I just wish someone would make something like an iMaestro interface for these cars where we could change the stereo out and still be able to see the HVAC settings on the screen. I know iMaestro supports a whole bunch of vehicles for that.....
