Gauge cluster lcd

2008 g37 my center lcd in my cluster doesn’t work at all. Won’t light up either. Also when I turn my blinkers on the cluster won’t show they are on but they work outside of the car. Also my push to start won’t start. Previous owner had a push to start button installed but won’t tell me why. Just trying to chase these electrical problems and get this car back to oem. Thanks

Aftermarket push to start

Ipdm with relay for after market push to start

re: gauge cluster... best advice, check all of the fuses in the driver side fuse block (next to left foot). Specifically, there should be a 10amp fuse for METER... though I would check them all.

HOWEVER,

Without knowing the full history of the car- especially what the previous owner monkeyed with and why- it will be difficult to get things back to OEM "normal."

** I checked all fuses and everything seems fine. Fuses are all good. I did find this plug not connected to anything behind radio lcd. Do you happen to know where it goes or what it’s for ?

Looks like connector for the center speaker. What color are the wires?

You may want to download the factory service manual from here. It will have all of the connectors, wiring diagrams, and every detail about these cars.

No speaker isn’t. The speaker is destroyed and the connector for that plug is gone. Someone broke it completely.

Well, at least for that connector you know where it is "supposed" to go...

That, however, has zero effect on your gauge cluster issue, PTS, or any other gremlins you are chasing.

Atop the radio headunit there is a rectangular white plastic box with two (2) connectors. Are they secure or are they damaged as well?

The tach gets it signal from the AC Amplifier (plastic box mentioned above) via CANBUS/ COM signal. This is the same amplifier that feeds the LCD screen in the gauge cluster.

Sounds to me that you have some minor connection issues.

Again, download the factory manual, familiarize yourself with the systems you are working on, and take it one step at a time.

Wait so in order for my cluster to work I have to have that white box connected? I actually don’t have any of that plugged in at all. The radio etc is all removed.

Yes, the "Unified Meter and AC Amplifier" (that little plastic box) must be plugged in or else the gauge cluster will not function properly. And be careful, it is easy to mix up those connectors.

Also, there is no "cluster reset" as you asked in your other thread.
