What is this?

Found this plug bolted near the latch to pull for the hood. Any idea what this plug is for?

That does not look factory. I was going to say OBDII port but I'm not sure. What happens when you unplug that cable lol?

WTF!

that's where your obd2 port is. what's plugged into it with security measure to not unplug it any ones guess.

So maybe it's just the obdII sensor went bad and this is fixing it? Lol I don't know

I doubt that you are laughing out loud. If you are, well.. IMO you are too happy.
I would guess that it is someone's attempt to "fool" the main board.

looks like someone installed an aftermarket obd2 logger/tracker or perhaps its one of those gps tracking devices that tracks the drivers routes and locations. just tear it out or if you don't feel comfortable with yanking it out just disconnect it and tuck it behind the panel so its not dangling loosely.
