Optima red top

For those who upgraded to Optima Red Top did you guys use something to add height to the battery since it's shorter than the original battery? I just got mine today and the locking bracket is too high because the battery sits too low. TIA

Exactly what surfnazi said. Reuse the tray cap, it's snaps to the bottom of the battery. Unfortunately, right now my battery is sitting inside the house on a tender for winter. My battery dies after a week and a half of not driving it. Had it tested and infiniti said the parasitic draw is normal and there are no recalled parts even when I mentioned the Evan control valve. So I am stuck if I don't daily it.

That's rubbish. No battery, if it is in good working condition, should go dead after a week or so. Hell, my car sits for weeks at a time untouched and cranks right up. Either you have the EVAP valve problem or something else is drawing current. Either way this is not normal.

Have the dealer check again for a parasitic loss or find another dealer- even Nissan if need be. But I wouldn't accept a dead battery after 1 week as normal.

If the battery sit outside, in freezing conditions, the battery will discharge no matter what.
That's why is more common to get a dead battery in the winter than in the summer.

Thinking what Elco said here is spot on. Freezing temps and not driving it often enough makes my infiniti not an enjoyable weekend car in the winter. Once I get a garage I'll def drive it more and just keep the battery on a tender.

I agree that the colder weather does affect a battery's performance, but whether you live in Siberia or Dubai, a good battery still shouldn't go dead in a week.

LOL!!!
believe me: if there are -25 Celsius (-13 F) outside, even a brand new battery won't hold a charge for more than 48 hours.

I experienced such conditions many times and i always keep the jump cables near by in the winter.
Every car i ever owned, had starting problems at least 1 time every winter.
No matter how old or new the battery was.
Older battery die more quickly.
New battery hold's better but eventually will die if left too long, without a charge, in cold weather.
