Navigation Update Failed

Car: 2013 G37x Coupe

I would like to know if anyone has any ideas on how to fix this issue. I started the 2016 navigation update and it failed. Once it fails it just reboots and starts over. I have already RMA the update cd and the new ones fail also. I have found if you start the car then put it in Reverse real quick before the nav boots the backup camera works. If you leave the backup camera on for 3-4 minutes then put it in drive you can get into the nav system. As soon as you kill the car it goes right back into the look. I have taken to the Dealership they don't have a clue and told me to RMA the update try that then they can file a warranty claim.

Just wondering before I do that if anyone has any suggestions.

Thanks!

This is were the update hangs up.

This is the error you get after it sits not moving for 20 minutes.

The HDD on your AV unit is damaged. Replacing the HDD will fix the problem.
I had a similar problem on my G37x and was solved by a HDD replace.
Check this thread: https://www.myg37.com/forums/audio-v...ml#post4080130

For your unit, you will need a Toshiba 40GB IDE HDD. Other HDD's won't work on the US spec unit.

The HDD is locked.
If will need to write the required data on the HDD before installing the new HDD on the car.

If you don't want to spend time and money unlocking your hdd, you can use the HDD image that i made for US spec units.
You can find the HDD image link on that thread.

After installing the new HDD, you can proceed to update the navigation.
The HDD image have the 2013 navigation version on it.

Don't bother with the dealership... they won't replace just the HDD.
They will replace your entire AV unit for a hefty price.

I updated the navigation for our 2013 6MT a few weeks ago. I did it twice and attributed my difficulties to my lack of experience doing it.

Have not detected any trouble and will advise if I see any

Good luck with yours.
