Pro Clip for Cell Phone

Having tried about 6 different cell phone mounts in my G37, and not being happy with any of them, this Forum brought me to ProClip.

I ordered the G37 mount and the universal phone holder, as they did not have a specific holder for my Motorola Droid phone.

The installation was easy (the mount clicked in very firmly without need for the included double stick tape) and the universal holder easily adjusted to the phone itself.

Installation took 15 minutes. It would have been much shorter if I did not keep dropping the black screws on the black carpeting of the car -

My software solution is Android Auto - the latest version of Android Auto plays on the phone, not on the car's own screen, but it is EXCELLENT.

My settings are to auto start when the phone connects to the car and play Pandora (it can easily do Google Music, Spotify, etc.).

The navigation voice is through the car's Bose system (as long as I remember to hit the Bluetooth button).

Traffic reports are amazing! I had previously tried the Sirius/XM traffic add on, as I am a subscriber, and it is garbage - inaccurate and it only reports on roads a good deal away from me.

Android Auto is taking full advantage of Google's resources - it is automatically tracking all Android cell phones as they move down the roads (you are tracked anyway to keep your cell phone in touch with the towers). It knows when there is a slow down and a stoppage and reports that graphically (yellow for slow, red for a stoppage). It is pulling in accident and police activity info from Waze, which Google bought a few months ago.

During my first uses of Android auto, it started recommending alternate routes to me based on traffic in the route that had been planned... fantastic.
Again, all info is both graphic and spoken through the car.

My phone does not read texts without some help, so I added "Read it to Me" from the Google Play store. Android Auto auto-replies with a text which I set up to say "I am driving right now, I will get back to you when I can." However, Read it to Me allows you to dictate a response by voice if you wish.

They are constantly updating Android Auto, and it is free. You can't do better.

Forgive the dust in the pic.. and I have yet to route the charging cable for the phone. The white cable is for my wife's iPhone.

Here is a pic:

please don't cause an accident looking down at the phone.

that mount is way too low for me to consider safe to use while driving.

Actually, I end up not looking at it at all, unless I am stopped at a light or in traffic.

The app is talking me through everything, including traffic delays.

The advantage of this particular mount is that it is very clean and out of the way, yet accessible for those times when I do need it.

I have got to believe that ANY location for a cell phone in a car leaves the potential for distraction. Certainly, looking at the stock nav screen is no better, as it takes your eyes off the road.

However, YMMV.
