G37 coupe aftermarket deck

So I recently bought a g37 coupe and am looking to install a sub, amp, deck. But i noticed that the g already has a nav screen and i don't want to lose that for the deck. So my question is what are my options for an aftermarket deck, is there anywhere else to install it, or should i just keep the factory head unit.

I dealt with this same issue about 3 months ago. I sold my touch screen unit and kept the stock head. The kit is about $300, and in my opinion very cheap looking. I just spliced in rca cables, upgraded the speakers and added an amp to run the speakers and another to push the subs. There is a ton of info in the audio, video section. Good luck.

Did you need to get a high level box? or could you run everything to the head unit?

No high level box needed. The wiring coming out of the head unit are low level. I spliced directly into the rca. Soldered the wires together and that's it. Everything you need to tap into is in the trunk. Only thing you have to run is the power wire from battery to amp.

I went Polk Audio AA6514-A MM6501 6.5" in the doors and Polk Audio AA2521-A MM521 5.25" in the rear. Disconnected the subs in the doors and Polk Audio DB691 6x9 in the deck. The stock speakers might work a little while, but they will blow out. I probably don't need both the deck and rear speakers, hind sight I would just go with the 6x9's.

You're welcome. This forum is excellent for all you need to know on how and which wires to splice into. If you have any other questions feel free to ask. Just pm me. I'm no means a professional installer, but I've installed a lot of systems. Lol.

I bought mine with all stock speakers and an added JBL 8" sub in the rear. It sounds great but I plan to upgrade the Bose speakers, they are just ok.

Theres the Metra dash kit, which retains the factory screen but adds their own buttons and interface combined with the ability to run a double din unit as well..

Well at least there's an option but man is it ugly.. All that for what, an adjustable on screen EQ? Why not get everything wired into the stock system?

Those Metra kits look awful, I couldn't do it... If the stock setup bothered me enough to change it, I'd take a shot at the old "replace the stock screen with a tablet" approach.

Yeah I just don't like the metra kit, just looks plain and bad. I was thinking of running it to the stock head unit, unless they can somehow mount a deck somewhere else, somehow in the glove department maybe? not sure lol
