Bluetooth Audio/ Browsing Playlist?

When was the ability to be able to browse your playlist over Bluetooth Streaming/ Bluetooth Audio happen?

Long story short:

My '11 G37s is in the shop for the 60K mile service and I was given a fully loaded Q50 as a loaner, to my shock I noticed that I was able to browse my iPhone playlist over Bluetooth. When the hell did this happen??? I swear out of all the new features and gadgets I see in this car, being able to browse my playlist over BTA is my most favorite feature.

I have an 08 coupe that has Bluetooth but only for phone calls, not a big deal to me but since I plan on ditching the aux jack when I upgrade to the iPhone 7 I bought an aux to Bluetooth adapter that works great if you really want Bluetooth audio

Only thing you wouldn't have is the browsing playlist feature

I actually have BTA in '11 G37s. But I'm not able to browse the playlist through BTA. I was just shocked and surprised it's actually possible to do it.

GariepyVQ, which Bluetooth adapter do you have? How's the sound quality?

It's the coolstream duo iPod to Bluetooth adapter, cost less than $20 on amazon and works great. I bought it so I could hook it up to that weird iPod connector in the center console and be able to use the steering wheel controls but it didn't read it for whatever reason, just charged it. So I connected the aux cord that came with it to the aux port and I still have the car charger port open (the one in front of the shifter I use for my radar detector). I'll upload a pic of the set up when I get in my car tomorrow but essentially I have the iPod port charging it and the aux port actually playing the music.

I always plug mine in out of habit but I believe I have the ability to browse playlists via bluetooth. I'm in for the night but I'll check tomorrow. I have a '13.

I've been using this MPOW bluetooth receiver for about a year now and it's been great! It has a play/pause button and back/forward buttons. Hid the wires in under the interior dash/center console panels and am running it into the center console armrest.

Auto-connects when I turn my car on.
