aux cord input?

Hi all,

I was test driving a G last week and I wanted to test out the sound system.. I saw the AUX button the console but couldn't find the aux input at all.. Is there one and if so, where is it?? Also, what do you guys think about the sound system?

The aux is for the A/V input in the center console (RCA jacks). Will only show video when the car is is in park/neutral. This is also where the jack is for the iPOD/iPhone (connector may be in the accessory pouch in the back if it's there).

The sound system in general is above average for factory sound systems IMO. Things rattle, but the sound isn't all that bad for a stock system. But that is all subjective to what you're after and what you're used to.

Ah ok thanks good to know. So there isn't anything to plug an aux cord to just play music from an ipod then?

No. Depending on package, you have a built in HDD, but that's a PIA since you can only rip directly from an audio CD at 1:1 speed. What I do is load up CF cards with up to 512 songs and use that for my music. Someone did mod the aux in to bypass the Neutral/Park requirement. Maybe that would do it for you. Would have to search for the thread.

I've got the '09.
Here's the '12 owners' manual

Might be different than my '09. Doubt it...but would give you good info anyway.

2012 should have a USB connection. Plus you won't need aux because that year has Bluetooth audio streaming

Oh if it has bluetooth then there's no problem. I hate the usb connection ones though cuz you have to choose the songs on the car's display rather than your ipod. Do you know if the 2011 has bluetooth also? I'm looking at '11s and '12s.

BT music streaming only comes with the navigation package. If you get one with just the premium package(like I did) you can either plug in your Apple product, use a usb stick, or rip out the OEM and throw in a Nexus 7(like I'm going to do).

I have an RCA to 3.5MM cable that just has the red and white connectors that I use to listen to music. It works exactly as an aux cord would in my 2008 G37.

Shame they got rid of the RCA inputs without putting an aux in port. 2012 premium pack with no way to stream from my phone to the car.

Anyone know if you can just create a iso disk of mp3's on a dl-dvd? That would give you access to 8.4gb of music on the cd side of the stereo. I've been meaning to burn one but haven't got around to it.

Yup, mine does

USB with an IPod works great

It takes quite some time to go thru 5009 songs
