One or Two 10" Subs?
Those are very nice custom enclosures, but very expensive. The custom box alone cost what my amp and subwoofer did combined. For a real audio guru, something like this may be mandatory, but for a guy like me that just wants better low frequency response, the $50 box works just fine.
Ya, but the boxes they make are fiberglass, which they can customize to your subwoofers exact specification for airspace.
Zen uses simple mdf wood, which isnt make per spec. The main thing is, you get what you pay for.

i made a custom box that goes right behind the rear seats of my coupe. when i fold them down it gives me some extra bass. i got ~1 sq ft by making the box fit as closely into the edges of the space as possible. it takes up about 1/2 the trunk from the seats back. (it ends before the beginning of the trunk hole. i like this spot but if you need to use your drop down space it isnt for you.
also i went with a single 12" sub, and got a **** to adjust the volume when i want more/less bass

I ended up getting this, and will install it over the weekend paired with a JL 500/1v2. It fits perfectly in the truck, side firing nook on the passenger side.
So sub and box made for it around $475 shipped

its hard to take a decent sound clip... but yesterday i was trying to take a sip of soda outa a bottle and the woofer made the bottle blow air down my throat lol. when its all the way up and pumping at the right frequency it will get hard to breathe unless i breathe with the pumping.
if you really want i can take a clip in the morning though.

I have twin fiberglass enclosures mounted on the rear sides of the trunk (where infiniti wants you to put your golf clubs). There molded to the exact shape of the trunk liner on the rear and rounded towards the center of the trunk. I get the right amount of bass and can still access my spare, jack and power distribution block for the amps hidden beneath the trunk liner
