So i got the Amp....

I bought a JL Audio XD700/5 700W Amplifier and was looking at having it power a sub(12"/300W) and power the speakers on the doors of my 2012 G37xS.

I have been reading about people changing the Tweeters and it making the sound so much better as well. If I do that would this amp also power the tweeters?

The Bose amp has separate outputs for the door woofers and door mid/tweets. To use your XD700/5 to power them, you'd need to also add a crossover network. The speakers most likely can't handle much more than what the Bose amp was pushing anyway. The only reason you might still want to do that is to insert better processing/EQing, but those Bose tweeters are so bad, why bother?

Since you have the amp to do it, you might as well buy a full set of speakers that can take full advantage of it. They'd include the appropriate crossover network as well.

I just got a FI Exhasut and RHFC so Im tapped for cash. Adding a few things to make a difference is fine for me for now.

Maybe next year I can add some great full set of speakers but for now, people saying using a amp to power the speakers and adding a sub makes a great difference.

you can use the amp on your existing speakers

just dont turn the gains up high. yes I know the gain is not a volume control but in some cases you need it to be a limiting factor.

Agreed, you can certainly use the amp to power the Bose speakers. The question is why go through all the work to hook it up that way, if you can't really send more power to them than they are already getting from the Bose amp? If you have an EQ or some sort of processing ahead of it, that might be a good reason. If not, why bother? In the older G35 coupe, it was easy - the Bose amp just output a full range signal, the tweets had a passive high-pass filter. Now, you need to somehow replace the crossover that's built into the Bose amps.

For the time being, because of that issue, I would just use your new amp to power your subs (leave the woofers/tweets on the Bose amp). When you get more cash, buy some speakers and use your new amp on those.
