iPhone 5 Lightning Usb integrated into g25 g37 center console...
So i wanted to have a good spot for my iphone 5 to dock in the car rather than just plugging the cable into the iphone and laying it on the seat or on my lap while i drive.. what i did was bought a oem apple lighting usb cable and drilled a oval shape sized hole in the coin tray.. pictures are below.. let me know what you think.. the phone is very stable..
This is what i started with Apple Lightning USB cable
drill a oval size hole like the cable and then you have this..
there you guys have it iphone 5 dock in a infiniti g sedan.. charges and plays music through radio

im sure it will be just fine, the base of the iphone 5 is touching the felt of the coin holder, but it should hold up to the vibration and movement of driving, we will see in the future what happens..

putting it in console where the usb connection is kind of a pain to do it everyday.. and since its up near the shifter, if i want to use the turn by turn navigation, then i can see the display of the iphone etc..

Nice idea. What you can do is make a custom bracket that can be inserted within the ash tray that will hold the Iphone. Like a desktop dock but way smaller version of it, enough to have more support using the ash tray and its depth.

yeh i see what you mean since the iphone is top heavy i hope this connector can hold up to it if not ill have to think of something along the lines like you said.. but i could essentially also take the top portion of a desktop dock and use that molded piece for the base to give the iphone a steady resting spot.. but lets hope we dont have to go that route..
this way it looks cleaner and my ash tray is still functional as my coin tray hahah
