iPod Connector Issue - Audio in Left Speakers ONLY

Hello Everyone,

New G owner as of last Saturday here and therefore obviously new to the forum. I have searched around for a similar problem and haven't come across anything quite the same or solutions to my problem, so here we go.

I have a 2009 G37x, as far as audio from the Radio and CD's everything is perfect. I purchased an iPod connector cable off of Amazon and when I plug in my iPhone 4 audio only comes out of the left side speakers. If I put the balance all the way over to the right and turn the volume way up you can just barely hear audio on the right side.

I thought maybe it was the cable so I already sent one back and got another yesterday (that claims it is OEM), still have the same problem. When I get back home today I am going to try an actual iPod and see if the phone is maybe the problem, so I don't have an answer for that yet. I also do not have the rca cables yet so I don't know if that input works either.

Just wondering if anyone has encountered a similar problem and may be able to help me out here. Thanks in advance for all of your help!

Sounds like you may have a short in the cable, or the cable isn't connected securely enough.
Try the iPod when u get home, but I bet it's the cable or that stupid proprietary connection in the console.

If audio playback is normal with other sources, the issue can only be with 1) the device itself or 2) the interface between the device and audio system. You mentioned that you have swapped out the cable for another new one and the problem persists. That rules out the cable (unless you got multiple new defective ones one after another, like the guy who kept getting defective transmissions). So it seems to be either the device itself or the interface where the cable meets the dock. If you have access to another G you can try it out. If your device and cable work perfectly in another car, then the problem is in your interface where the cable hooks up or somewhere between there and the head unit.

Which cable are you using? Are using the one that plugs into the 3.5 mm headphone jack on the iphone?
