Navigation Without Car Running

Is there a way to start the car where you can use the navigation without having to let the car run the whole time? I've owned my car for 2 months and still don't know how to use it, because I don't want to leave my car running as I figure it out.

Push the start engine button twice w/o depressing the brake pedal (so the engine doesn't start). You can play with the nav after doing that.

I think it even starts working when you press the button once, no?

^ Yes but only if you don't have the brake (or clutch on a 6MT) depressed. A double-press of the start button will put you in accessory mode no matter what.
