Owner Notification letter from Infiniti re: Nav/I-Phone Update

Just got this in the mail.

Dear G37 Sedan Owner:

We want to bring your attention to important information about the Navigation, Communication and Entertainment systems in your model year 2010 G37 Sedan vehicle.

Infiniti has become aware of customer concerns with the Nav system and with communication and entertainment functions involving the IPhone. To help address these concerns, Infiniti will update the Nav and communication software in your vehicle. This software update will address irregularities with navigational maps, voice recognition commands, phone book transfer from mobile phone to vehicle, and increase the number of entries that can be stored.

In addition, Infiniti is aware of customer complaints re: compatibility with the Ipod Touch. Apple has addressed this issue, and updated software for the IPod Touch is available on the Apple website in July. Infiniti has also developed a fix that will also be installed when you bring your vehicle for this service.

Infiniti will reprogram the operating software to correct the conditions outlined above. This service, free for parts and labor, should take less than 1 hour to complete. Please contact your Infiniti retailer to perform this important service.

Thanks for your cooperation. We are indeed sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you.

I wonder, is this only for 2010 or does it effect 2008 +

I would love to know that also... my car is presently at the dealer and I would LOVE to get this done if they have an update for the 2008. When I asked about a possible update they hadn't heard anything.

I set an appointment to get it done next week. I'll ask when I go in. Or you could call Infiniti, give them your VIN number, and see if your car is included in the program.

It's only for 2010 models. Trust me I tried calling all dealerships and even calling dealership outside my state to fix the issue but 95% of the answers I get is, " Sorry we don't know bout the issue or there's no way to fix it"

Does anyone know what else is fixed in this update, other than the iPhone/iPod issues?

I got the same notice but damned if I know what it fixes. My IPod Touch works just fine. Guess I'll eventually bring it in.

I'm glad Apple was aware of their software issue not being compatible with the new nav system

Thanks for the doc, but unfortunately Infiniti still doesn't specify exactly what will be fixed with this update - they're too vague.

For example, they state that "This software update will address irregularities with navigational maps, voice recognition commands..."
Which irregularities? Is there a bug fix list somewhere? Will the nav system reset itself to the factory defaults?

good questions...I dunno...the only issue I've been having is the nav system will occasionally reboot itself for no reason while I'm driving down the road and pick up where it left off...also mine occasionally freezes up when typing in an address...the service director said the update would fix those issues...I'm not having any of the iphone or bluetooth issues others are posting about

actually, I'd like for them to format the whole drive and do the update...erase all music...and let me start from scratch

Can anyone tell me the current (pre-update) version of the Navi software in a 2010 G37 sedan? I had the update done yesterday, but didn't pay attention to the old version number to see what changed. I haven't driven the car more than 10 minutes since the upgrade, so I'm curious to see if I notice any difference.
Thanks

My Nav version was X1U32009 prior to the update.
