Radar Detector and Tint

I was wondering how true it is that heavily tinted areas might obstruct the radar antenna or laser lens. I have just ordered an Escort 9500ix and my rear windows are 5% tinted. I don't want to get ambushed from behind because the tint is going to decrease the sensitivity of the rear facing laser port.
Anyone has any experience in that? TIA guys.

I'm not THAT tinted, but I am running 20% and my Beltronics RX65 Blue works just fine...it has saved me many times and I've never noticed it being splotchy b/c of tint

Same as hispeed. 20% tints and have the Escort passport with no problems at all. I pick up every laser signal detection that's at me.

I have an Escort Passport, too with tint and I have had no problems, either. I even have mine mounted at the top of the windshield behind the tint in the windshield. I know this can reduce effectiveness but I have never had a problem and have had lots of warnings picked up in time.

That sounds great. I was a little worried about the reception after reading the Escort manual.

Which blend mount are you using?

That's great to hear. I may change my rear tint from 5% to 20% though.

Did any of you guys tint a small piece of the windshield to conceal the radar detector from outside view (like some dotted areas between sun shields in some cars)? I was wondering if the radar detector would cause a magnet effect for the cops to get suspicious about my speed and pull me over.
