V1 hardwire writeup?

Hey folks,

Is there a writeup for hardwiring a V1 radar detector into a G37? I have a base Sedan and unfortunately can not do it through the rear view mirror method.

Thanks.

im not 100% sure on this, but IIRC from my nissan club days, people have run the wire thru the headliner and down the A pillar to tap the accessory power.

Edit: yeah here we go

EK is exactly right...that sucks you can't use a stealth chord...makes it SO much easier!

Hmmm...pulling the headliner & a-pillar apart and tapping into the fuse box simply scares me because the G37 is leased. I was thinking of buying a 14 foot RJ11 6P4C wire and running it alongside the headliner/a-pillar and into the center arm console (since there is a power source in there).

Werd... I have a '10 G37S sedan and was able to get the stealth cord method to work... I have the full homelink mirror, though. Not sure if that makes a difference... I made my own cord and first time I tried to use it, it didn't work - so I reversed the wires on the mirror side of the cable... My V1 lit up just fine after that...

if you bought it new, it should have come with a long cord to tap into your fuse box and run it through the car. it's not hard to run, pulling the a pillar is easy and you just tuck the rest under the headliner (no need to take headliner off)

My invisicord is intermitent, can't seem to get the probes into the back of the rearvew mirror to stay in securely. Anybody else have this problem? I was thinking about hardwiring through the fuse box as well, but don't don't want to deal with the hassle and possible rattle issues from pulling the side panel off.

You could also cut the phone cord and splice the wire into the homelink system on the rearview mirror. I did that about 3 months ago with mine, and no issues.

How would that be done? Your talking about something different than sticking the probes of the stealthcord into the back of the wire harness on the mirror correct?

The pins they ship are too wide for the G37. I made my own with modified D-sub pins and a phone cable. Or if you can find them, they make Mini D-sub pins that will fit.

I took the normal ones, flattened them, and pushed them in with needle nose pliers. You can try doing the same with your invisicord.

I didn't even use a stealthcord for that. Pretty much what Namir said, just try to flatten out the tips of the normal power cord for the V1 and just stick them into the mirror harness.

Invisicord/stealth cord = FAIL

Do not waste your time, there is no way to get the wires to 'slip' in as the instructions state.

Yeah, the instructions don't mention anything about using something else first, something stiff and sharp to jam into where the wires eventually go, wiggle it around a bit to open it up and then easily slip the wires in. I used a sewing needle.

I took pliers and flattened the ends of my stealthcord. It was fairly easy to get it to work after that.

Both are useful ideas. I appreciate it and will try both. I destroyed my cord in the process of trying to jam the wires in with needle nose pliers so I'll order another and try both the needle and the flattening methods. Anyone else blow a fuse in the process?
