Take-off & Bose system differences between 07 and 09

My 07 lease is 2 months from ending and I am out and about checking all the competing cars. However, I love my 07 G35 sedan and am thinking of turning it over to the 09 right now, since Infiniti will do it in advance.

So I test drove the near exact version of my 07 yesterday in an 09 G37. It was pretty much as I expected, except for 2 things which I would love some comments on:

1) I thought I noticed that the way it took off from a stop when I hammered down on the throttle. It seemed not to put me back in my seat as quickly and effortlessly, in the first few seconds, as my 07 G35 does. It seemed like it went through a longer sequence of gears to kick in rather than just going straight to the point like my 07.

Now granted it was the end of the day and I wasn't able to hit it as much as I would have liked to since there was a lot of traffic, but it just struck me that way on first impression. Of course I'll go back and give it a much more extensive test drive in a few days, especially since the manager said he'd let me have it for an hour or more on my own. But just wondering if any of this has any validity. To those that have gone from an 07 to an 09 as I am thinking of doing.

2) The 09 Bose Infiniti system now has 2 extra speakers I believe, which I thought was perfectly balanced for a factory system as it was (one of the reasons I love this car, among others). Now I need to take some more time and bring in some of my material via CD and MP3, but it seemed on first impression to be a bit less balanced and leaned a bit more on the mid/treble side than my 07 model.

BTW, the main reason I am even considering another car, besides a change of style for a few years (I will be leasing again) is that my wife says our 07 is too scary to drive because of it's hair trigger throttle. Supposedly the newest bunch have sorted that out and i didn't feel the 09 I tried had that same sort of problem. She really wants an A4, so I'm off again to try that tomorrow, but just wondering if that is also a thing of the 07 model only.

Cheers,
-Dave

Agree with your comments on the Bose system. This car just doesn't have the bass that it should with all these speakers. My wife's CTS-V has a Bose system that sounds great.

We had an 07 G35 and put 35k trouble-free miles on it. We didn't have the premium package in that car but we do in our new 09 G37.
The throttle response is easier on the neck (and coffee )
It seems quicker to me and it goes up through the gears very smoothly and very easy to keep the power in the useable range. The transmission low speed downshift issue was more noticeable at first, it doesn't seem nearly as prevalent now w/ 5k on the car.
The only thing I don't like about the G37 is the very poor Goodyear RS-A tires (on the 17" wheels).
Our 07 had the 18" wheel option w/ Potenza summer tires and these were SO much better. You really can't get the G to its limits w/ the stock crap tires.
The sound system is great, but since I didn't have it on our 07 I can't help you w/ any differences there.
Also be sure to get the Illuminated kickplates in your 09, great feature IMO.

Those new A4s are a pretty sweet ride, not quite up to the zip of the G, but a very solid and seemingly well built Audi.

07 has a much quicker throttle response than the 09, that's why it kicks you into the seat, becasue you are at 6k rpms after just tapping the throttle. The 09s dont work that way, they have a little delay, which explains the difference in feel. Also the 09 is heavier and although it makes more power, thats only at the top end (6-7k rpms). If the throttle tip in on the 07 bothers your wife, I beleive there is some kind of a TSB, ecu fix for it.

^you are right. you can get your 07's ECU reflashed to get rid of the overtly sensitive throttle response. however, i love that throttle response compared to 08-09 sedans as they seem more "sluggish" to me.
