I spoke to a rep at a custom install place that does crazy installations and this is what he said about qiring the garmin. Please tell me if it makes sense LOL

Okay so yes we can make something work. NavTv has a RGB input
adapter so the output of the Garmin piece can be wired through the
Navtv adapter and through your factory screen. The only thing with
this adapter is it is video only so we can use your AUX input of the
car to do the navigation voice. The downfall to doing it that way is
you would have to select the source of AUX and use only the
navigation, so no music at the same time.

The way we would prefer to do it is if the Garmin has a speaker out
and mute wire we can potentially hook it up to one of your factory
speakers and the sound will cut out the speaker only when the
navigation talks. Or worst case scenario we can install a speaker
hidden in the dash just for the navigation purposes, which have done
on many other cars and works good. The Garmin unit is $599.99+tax, the
adapter from NavTv is $349.99+tax and the installation price would
just do by the hour. It would take approximately 3 hours to install
the Garmin piece, The NavTv piece, and whatever we decide to do about
sound for the navigation, we charge $65.00 per/hour. If we use a
speaker in the dash we have a self contained speaker/speaker enclosure
that is small and we can hide which is $39.99+tax. Let me know if you
would like to set an appointment up, in order to set the appointmet we
would take a $100 (non-refundable) deposit to order the equipment and
save a day for installation. Any questions let me know. Thank you.

So basically the NavTV is the same as the VCI-NIS1 from PAC. I'm not sure how well the NavTV input works, and how many input it has. So if I were you i'd look into that and compare it with the VCI-NIS. I'm almost not sure if it's been tested on a G37. Another thing to note is that while in AUX mode, my display gets screwed up if I turn on the Garmin NAV. So if you try to turn on NAV and put in in AUX mode for audio, you might run into some video issues like I did.

The optional speaker that comes with the Garmin GVN53 is sufficient, Mount it somewhere under the steering wheel and it's loud enough to hear commands over your music. I wouldn't bother with AUX input for Nav Voice as it may not even work due to the video input + AUX has some weird bugs.

Garmin has a speaker out and a mute wire that sends a signal when it's about to speak. Someone with an FX was able to use the bluetooth wiring and hook up the mute wire with the Garmin so the head unit would think a bluetooth call is coming in whenever the NAV wanted to speak and would mute the audio, which is cool but i think without the wiring diagram and our G37 might have some different wiring it's too much of a hassle so I didnt go this route. Their time estimate and pricing seems to be fair. Don't forget there will also be an issue of where to mount the GPS antenna. I decided to do it on the dash board top right corner. It's not that visible but that would give the best reception as oppose to having it under the dash.

thanks man. Sounds like this shop can do the job. I will get the garmin and the VCA instead since it's more than likely cheaper and proven

I was guna ask them about where to mount the antenna...I don't want it visible since it would be a reason to break into the car....I'm hoping he says it'll be fine under dash

i have read that ppl installed it under the dash and it was fine, but my tech guy said for best reception it's good to have a clear view of the sky.

ANother option is to mount it in the rear window, but the tech said the frost lines and tint (if metallic) can affect reception. Which is why i did it on the top of the dash. The antenna is fairly small and it comes with a metal plate to put under so it's fairly discrete.

kkokko - what about an LSD? That's a very important part of the S package in my opinion as it is essential for faster runs and more responsive handling around curves - let's you lay power to wheels much more effectively. If I was moving to an S emulation, I'd do a torsen LSD right off the bat, I think....I'm sure it's pricey, though....

Hey kkokko, I had emailed PAC in order to find some dealers in my area
as well as to see if it would be compatible with a 2009.

I received a reply back saying VCI modules work is by intercepting the video signal
from the navigations system then sending its own signal. If the vehicle does not have a nav system,
the VCI will not work.

This is obviously not the case because you have proven other wise.
I must say though that PAC replied pretty quick to my email.

Do you know if their will be issues because my car is a 2009 sedan and
not a 2008 coupe like yours.

Thanks again, Jeff

I think what they mean is, if your vehicle doesn't have an LCD capable of inputing video.

I know the VCI-NIS1 works on 2007sedans(g35driver has ppl who have done ) and 2008 coupes(i'm the first to do it), (non nav)

Unless 2009 totally changed their system, which it does not look like. I'm pretty sure it will work. Just check the VCI-NIS documentation and install instructions. It should not need a nav system that doesnt make sense. I have a base model and most people who have Navigiation won't want the vci-nis...

BTW - Apparently the upac-nis2 was too soft, so my tech replaced it with the upac-nis1 and the volume was louder.

kkokko, now that you have had some time with the nav how do you
like it? How is the reception without the plate?

How do you like the back up camera? Is the picture good a night as well?

If you hook up a portable dvd player to the aux jacks in the console
will this allow video to be played while driving. Or does it have to go
through the VCI-NCI module in order to bypass this?

Is your monitor still screwing up when in aux mode and nav is turned on.
That wouldn't be much of an issue because you don't use them at the
same time anyways.

I'm hoping to get this done soon! Just looking for someone who can
install it all.

Keep us posted triple_x. I'm still looking for an installer in my area.
I think I might even tackle it myself with a friend.

got it installed Saturday and everything works fine and looks awesome. Blackbox mounted under passenger dash, antenna ran up and placed under the inspection sticker. The speaker is mounted under the drivers side dash so easily heard even over radio. I have a switch that turns the screen from normal display to gps display.

Here are some CRAPPY cell phone pics. One is daytime display, the other at night. I tried taking pics with digital camera but the flash kept making a glare on the screen. I can try to figure something out though.
