ipod touch doesn't work

Am I missing something? Just got my g37x. I plug my touch into the cable. Under status, I see ipod on the screen but that's all. How do I play my music now? I don't see my playlist.

I just got a G37 and I also plugged in my iPod classic and nothing happened. But when I actually unplugged the iPod and pressed play on it and reconnected it, it worked.
