Can someone please help me....

Guys,

I have asked around everywhere for this, Infiniti dealers, Nissan dealers, a couple of guys working @ Infiniti dealers on this forum and I NEVER got a response. How can I order the Vehicle Alarm Impact Sensor? How much would that be and how much for installing it?

Thanks,
-A

I would honestly save your money and buy guidepoint. It's like lojack, just actually functional. Basically what it does is if you car moves without key being near it, it notifies local police who then call you to verify if it should be in motion (flatbed, jacks, etc) Then they will track it down using a navigation device installed in the car and retrieve and arrest the idiots, unlike lojack that once you notice your car gone, track it and call police it is dumped and stripped already. From what I gather from the dealerhsip, as they even didn't suggest the impact sensors, is that if someone breaks a window and bumps into your car it will set off....maybe I am thinking of something else, but a factory or aftermarket alarm would do the same.... Just my 2 cents.

oh I had it installed at dealership when I bought the car. It's 800-1k to buy, I forget and it is transferable to your next car.

^^ ahh ok. On the infiniti site it says it is 130. Not sure what they would charge if you didn't get it when you bought the car. Probably charge more for installing it too

doesn't the factory alarm go off when windows break?

Andromeda, the factory alarm is garbage. If you're depending on it for anything, you're going to be disappointed when your wheels are gone. Only way to go is aftermarket FTW! Too many from this forum have lost their wheels, etc., while depending on the factory alarm.

Get an aftermarket and be done with it!

^^ what is different than a factory alarm? Both times my last car got broken into, they popped the hood and cut the alarm and/or battery to shut it off. takes 2 seconds

Aftermarket would have set off the alarm once the hood was popped. You could have also had your aftermarket key fob alerting you that you're alarm has been activated. Once your key fob is alerting you, doesn't matter if the car is underwater, your key fob is still alerting you, car power or not.

Okay so just to clarify, what things actually do/do not set off the standard alarm that comes with the car?

I think it works only if the doors/trunk are opened and car being hardwired. No shocks, glass anything..Pretty stupid. The one I'm talking about is the standard one.

I agree with you...It's just that I have to play that stupid warranty thing with them?

What aftermarket you recommend? What do you have?

Thanks,
A

What stupid warranty thing?

I've always used Viper alarms (DEI technologies). You can add a million things to them (backup battery systems, backup siren if power is cut, etc) each to your own preference. For what you're looking for, make sure you get the audio glass sensor (glass breakage, bumped, etc). You can also add the tilt sensor (will activate alarm if car is tilted, i.e. wheels being stolen). Some of these models have a two-way remote. It will alert you if you're alarm siren has been activated and has a very wide range (this adds to the cost though). Again, it's up to you to choose the options.

Also, make sure that a reputable, authorized dealer installs your alarm system.

The big gripe about aftermarket alarms is that you'll now have two key fobs and no, they can't be integrated into 1 remote, sadly.

I believe KP or someone made a motion sensor/glass break add on to the factory alarm for G35. Not sure if there is one for the G37 though.
