Called Navteq, and they said that the update will be out in March, and that the website should only be for 2008 models.

They are giving me the option of carrying over the purchase to the update in March or refunding the money.

BTW, the dealer confirmed, and I watched the tech perform the check. They plug in the computer, and it checks the current version loaded against the version available and compares. The code is used to access the downloads and is tied to the VIN of the vehicle when installed, and then updated in the NAVTEQ database to prevent it from being loaded into more than one car.

Were you asked for the VIN when you purchased it? If not then...Well no more comments...

yeah I understand that, but there should be some deal between the two company's
and we should get at least one free update
for a $190 it should come with a wireless controler and should be able to play

Reviving this old thread. I got an offer in the mail from Infiniti to upgrade the map for $149.99. What bothers me is that you have to pay for the Navteq update as well as your dealer for the service.

anyone have this update applied to their G? I think the POI database (or lack thereof) is what's killing us on our 2k8 and 2k9 G's... it's horrible ..

I don't know the circumstances of everyone else but the purchase of my car came with 3 free Nav updates. After the 3 free updates then they will begin charging me the $190 or whatever update fee.

I just got a mailer saying 09/10 update is available for $99. At $99 it is tempting. Have until June to decide.

Don't forget the dealer's fee for performing the upgrade.

I had Nav in my '04 Maxima. Every year Nissan would send me a letter "Special $99 pricing!!!!!" for the Nav. I never ever ever paid. In the 7 years I had the car, I never got lost once.
