Xm Sucks
Xm Sucks
Does anyone else hate the XM channels or is it just me???? I was so psyched when i got my G and the fact that it had sat radio made it even more sweet. That was until i saw the lack luster line up of channels they have, im better off listening to the radio and my ipod. Ever so often Lucy will play a block of songs that you can just rock out to...Thank god that the merger got approved. I for one can't wait until i can mix and match the channels i want, hands down Sirius has a better channel selection. im not just saying that because i read their station list either. A good friend of mind has Sirius in her car and the programming is just way better. I dunno maybe im off on this.

I dont think it sucks but i dont use the sat radio.. ever. Its always the ipod playing or a cd.
My dad had sirius in his car before, and it wasn't too bad, i just rather pick the song i want to listen to rather than listen to a radio.

I didn't like it in the beginning, but I'm getting used to it. I only listen to a handful of stations (20, 22, 30, a few in the 50's, 60's, 120's for news/finance).
Once the new pricing structure is established for the merger, I'd probably get the partial subscription if at all.

I had Sirius in my bmw, and I guess i got spoiled. I've been with Sirius since my RSX-S days. (plug in adapter, not factory). Then I go to Sirius and realize its terrible. The Merger is complete, and we should have packages of sirius and xm together as early as October.
The receivers in the G37 (or all existing receivers for that matter) will not work with the ala carte packages. The only XM / Sirius mixed option that you will have will give you all the XM channels and only 11 select Sirius channels. That's all XM has chosen to rebroadcast to existing customers. If you want Sirius, the only real option is still a receiver swap (either a new dual tuner receiver when it comes out, or a Sirius receiver).

In addition, I contacted Infiniti of America, Corporate, and they advised me my information above is 100% correct. If you would like to verify, Infiniti of America - 800.662.6200 - opt. 2.
Incorrect; part of the merger stated that both XM and Sirius MUST work on current receivers. One of the reasons the FCC took so long to grant the merger is due to fairness and to prevent abusing Monopoly (as we stand, XM Sirius, the new satellite radio name, IS a Monopoly).

PDF Outlining both Sirius and XM offerings post merger
As you will see both show that ala carte packages are only available to "subscribers using next generation receivers" which both have already clarified do not exist yet, and would be designed after the merger was approved. This is why the initial time line was for the ala carte packages to not be available until 1 year post merger.
You will also notice the channel line up for the "XM Everything & Select Sirius" package it lists 11 top Sirius channels. This will be available to those with existing tuners since those 11 channels are being re-broadcasts over XM sats.
It also confirms that certain channels marked as "premium" will cost $3 to $6 each over the regular ala carte packages. These include the sports pacakges (NFL, NBA, MLB, etc), Howard Stern, Oprah, etc.

In my car I wanna hear exactly what I wanna hear when i want to hear it which is why I use mp3 cd and iPod...XM comes with out Direct TV which is connected to a great 5.1 surround system so we use Sat Radio for in-home. XM is average. I like BPM. The hip hop stations play some weird $hit half the time. The reggae station is kinda cool too.
