Headlight out - 4500miles... pls help

So I was cleaning my car off tonight with the car on listening to the radio. The car was on, not the engine, for not more than an hour. I left it on and came back and only the fog lights we on and the battery was dead. I dont have cables so i had roadside come jump it for me and when it came back on the right headlight (HID) was out! Has anyone else had issues like this? The dealership should cover the replacement of the headlight right? This will be the 3rd time i have taken my car in for repair (1.transmission seal cracked leaked tranny fluid 2. They fried my ECU and VVEL components with the TSB reset).

I just needed to vent and get someones advice... thanks for reading...

If the headlights are burnt out then they might since it is still new but I am not sure. Infiniti dealerships usually want to make their customers happy so they probably will but don't wait and take it to the dealership. You should have proof with the roadside assistance too which will help you.

roadside assistance.... wow... I called the number on our roadside assistance card and guess what shows up. Two guys in a honda civic with a battery jumper thing. So i was thankful that they knew where to connect the cables. No truck, no uniform, no nothing...

I'm not paying for a new HID plus the labor on removing the whole front end to get to it... i'm gunna give em hell tomorrow...

I would expect at least to see them in some kind of uniform stating that they were from Infiniti. Can't believe that.

Why would you care what they drive or how they look if they show up to fix your screw up and help you out? They were contracted by Infiniti because they are likely a reputable road service. I'd be glad that they came if I were the type if dude to kill my battery at home by leaving the lights on and didn't have cables.

Good luck getting Infiniti to warranty replace a headlight. I don't think its a warranty item because 1) its an electrical part and 2) its a "wear" item like brake pads or tires. Let us know if they do it.

Doesn't this hat trick qualify you for a manufacturer's lemon buy-back? Just a thought. Could be completely wrong.

Wow black betty, calm down a little. My "screw up" was leaving the radio on, the lights automatically turned off after 10mins or so as they do when the car is left on long enough. I'm sorry a $40,000 car cant play the radio for under an hour on battery. It was fine on other occasions and started right up. I do have cables but it was easier to call roadside service at 11:30pm since I didn't think i needed to wake my friends up to hook the cables up to their car. Plus the whole thing about the roadside service is that it was so random to see an unmarked car just show up, i haven't seen that before. I don't see why im explaining everything here anyway, I just thought it was an odd event last night...

I took it today and they told me it would be covered under the warranty, but they haven't had a problem like that with anyone else before...

Just a thought but there has been issues (from what I heard) with the battery not holding a charge well so you might want to get that tested. It is not a huge issue but you might just want to check that out. Oh and it doesn't affect all cars. It is a kinda hit and miss thing.

Didn't mean to be a jackass, but I don't think the price of the car is an issue with draining a battery - you could drive an Enzo and drain the battery by playing the radio with the lights on for an hour. I just thought everyone old enough to drive knew that.

I suppose the 2 dudes in a Civic isn't odd to me because I have experience with road service from my work; those guys are often freelance guys who have other regular jobs; not someone who'll show up in a marked car or in a uniform from Infiniti. Particularly in the middle of the night. If possible they won't dispatch a tow truck for a battery jump; that's a waste of their money. If you lock the keys in the car somehow, expect to see the $25 Pop A Lock guys and not a mechanic or tow truck. I shouldn't have just presumed everyone would know that either.

You may want to manually turn off the lights to avoid this in the future as HID's will run down any battery very quickly. If they can tell you why the HID went out, please post for all.

Have read numerous posts about the batteries being drained...... Interesting occurrence.
