Group buy?

$190/XX = cheap

Thats of course if its a simple flash card or something. Bit torrent is a good alternative too :-)

Even if the update itself is free, you are going to have to pay some Infiniti tech $120/hr to install it. Im sure they will bill you for 1.5-2hrs when it probably takes 1.5-2 seconds.

Lets face it, nothing is free anymore. But I do agree, the updates should be free, especially if you are still under factory warranty...

This is what Zenrin customer service told me.

The update coming this May is version 07-08. So, if you already have it, you won't need it. Those that have version 06-07 and want to update your navigation; You will pay Zenrin for the update, $190, they give you an activation code that you will take to your Infiniti dealer who will install the update. He said you'll have to pay extra for the dealer to install it. For those who have version 07-08, another update will be available again sometime next year.

^^^ It's in your INFO menu somewhere... snoop around. I believe I have the 07-08 version already, oh well. What I really want is the full voice command list!

I would never pay $190 for a stupid nav software update. Period.

GPS Version (06-07) - We Should get Upgrade

I seem to remember seeing something about this last year but can't seem to find it anywhere.

My G37 says the GPS map version is 06-07 which sucks 'cause I bought an '08 vehicle. A good friend of mine just bought an '08 EX and I checked his map year and it says 07-08. I know Infinti no longer provides updates and that it is handled through Zenrin which means we have to pay for updates. Has anyone approached Infinti yet for a free update somehow? If you have, I am VERY interested in hearing their argument for not doing it.

I have the same issue. Purchased in September 07 and have the 06-07 version. A friend at work liked the car so much that he purchased in February and has the newer update. I was originally told by the dealer that they would upgrade for free. He then later came back and said that they would charge. The update was suppose to be available first in April, then May, and now Zenrin's web site states fall/winter. When the update is finally available I intend to try for a free or reduce cost price.
