Today I heard that you can add a digital output to the factory Bose stereo system that come with the premium package. Can anyone confirm this? Any links? I want to add a digital signal processor and a digital output would be just plain awesome.

Anyways, if your keeping the stealth look, do you really not want to be able to use the volume **** on the radio?!
Well, my DSP has a volume control that can be mounted anywhere. Can you point me to any websites that have a solution for me?

Two points... I would like to hear more about this Digital output and if it is true, could open up tons of possibilities for connecting aftermarket gear. USing a good outboard D-to-A converter one could feasibly keep the stock sources then feed amps and speakers with minimal cutting of wires etc.
As for the 3Sixty's... I have used them and they are great products. However they do not have a digital input. They take speaker level inputs(analog) and process them into the digital domain and then convert them to RCA (analog) outputs to your amps. Thus 3Sizty's are an A-D-A converter
If our cars had a digital output, even one that we had to solder the right connector on to, we could use some realy nice stuff to do the same thing as the 3sixty, but minus the analog into digital step that you get when taking an analog speaker output and converting it to digital in something like the 3Sixty.

It seems to me that modifying the head unit to access the digital output is spending a LOT of money (and risking damage to the head unit) to get very little bang in the end. After all, you'll be driving in a pretty noisy environment, not your living room.
What hardware would you use to process the digital? What would this configuration look like?
I'm going to use the 3Sixty.2 for the DSP and mucho band equalizer, not just to defeat any EQ curve the head unit might have.

first thing is, the HU has no EQ curve as the signal is flat from the HU. Second, a true parametric or 1/3 octave EQ should be set and forget. Unless you want those 80's Kraco 5 band eq's for messing with, but if your keeping the HU for stealth look then just use a high quality EQ.
As far as losing the one analog to digital conversion step, I agree as your not bound to notice the difference in a moving car. It's a different story if you compete where road noise is not a factor.
