I personally haven't heard the sound system in the non-premium package, however I absolutely LOVE the Studio On Wheels in the Premium package. Sound is crisp and clear and all sound levels. I love it.
The stock system is on par with most any other cars stock system. Its slightly better than the 02 Accord I had before my G.
That said, I'm ripping it out and replacing it with after market speakers because I find both stock and Bose systems to sound horrible.

I have the stock, I enjoy it.
I'm not a system junkie...but it has decent base and thumps when you need it to. I like it. You really should go to the dealer and listen to both & see what you like!
You can always upgrade to after market too

Anyone know what the power is on the new Bose system?? I know on the sticker for my G35 it said 225 Watt Bose (I think it was 225..) but doesn't say on the G37.. I think the Premium package is worth it, the Bose in the just one of the many extra feautures, Bluetooth, iPod, sunroof, etc...
I would like more control over the mids. There's no adjustment for that on the bose, just lows and highs. I would also like to up the power on the lower end of the bass for that boom factor. Otherwise, I'm impressed with the sound.

+ 1. Low end is non-existant. Cranked up to the max and its still nothing. I know its OEM, but I was expecting a little more from a "premium studo-on-wheels package".
Can anyone recommend a *cheap* solution to this? ie, can the stock amp be easily upgraded without having to mess too much with wiring?

You can pop out the tweeters and change em same with the subs, the AMP should have plenty of power to downgrade/upgrade to a better system. BOSE has a deep sound to it, it is not as clear as many other systems. It is very distictive but you will get used to the sound.

There is no cheap solution. Bose screws you by making all of their equipment incompatible with anything. You can add a LOC and install and amp and sub. Or if you want truly good sound quality you'd have to replace all of the factory speakers and amp and keep only the factory head unit. Definitely not cheap but that is what I see myself end up doing eventually.
I guess i was spoiled with my Mark Levinston System on my IS350. Boss sounds like a swap meet system once you hear the ML System. Imaging is much better with the ML . I upgraded everything, hell it wasn't cheap. But if you want something better, you have to swap out the all the speakers. I chose MOREL because they are the only ones with a 3 way components (ELATE 9) that had a big enough sub woofer (9 inches) for the door that requires minimum mods to make them fit. The only draw back is the price.
I also upgraded the rears with4 - 8 inch subs from IMAGE DYNAMICS, free air setup. Bypassed the stock amp and replaced them using Zapco amps and Symblink adpaters to receive the signal from the stock HU.
Now it sounds AWESOME but im broke...lol
