Knowing that it's coming from Nissan... it probably wont have the same luxuries as the new Infiniti cars.

My understanding is the hard drive is a 30GB hard drive. However, after loading navigation maps and software on it, you are left with 9.3BG for music. So, I don't believe it is a 10GB hard drive, but a 30GB hard drive - with 9.3 GB left for music.

Yep, that's correct. It uses a 30 GB Seagate EE25 (Extreme Environment) Series hard drive.

Hey, I got my Black/Black 6MT +Premium+Tech+Nav+Spoiler+4WS, yesterday.

Quantity of music is more than adequate, I'm looking for highest quality. The G35 I found was to burn Audio CD from high bit rate itunes. Now I'm thinking those high bit rate on CF Card is probably highest fidelity?

I see the Music box records 3000 songs @ 135k bit rate, seems too compressed but it surely sounds very good, I can't distinguish it from the CD...

MP3 has always sounded relatively poor from CD, It seems better from iPOD.

For convenience XM radio does it for me anyway.

What bit rates are supported (128, 160, 192, 320)? I looked through the post, but did not see it anywhere.

There are two bit rates supported......105 and 132, with 132 being the default.

105 and 132 are odd for bit rates, not proper multiples ?

Question

I'm looking at getting a G37 next summer, and was wondering (assuming) that the G will play CDR's with mp3's on it. I know it will not rip it to the hard drive, but I'm hoping that it will at least play mp3 CDR's.

This is bugging me so I had to check .

I could be mistaken or it might be different for G35, but the Specification Chart in the G37 Coupe page 4-36 indicates supported bit-rate up to 320kbps including VBR for MP3s and up to 192kbps VBR for WMAs.

Another tidbit that is interesting is that you can have 512 max files / songs for nav version, but non-nav ups this to 999 (I guess less space used up by nav files so more for music). As mentioned earlier in thread, this is plenty and anyone needing more would be wise to invest in something like an iPod.

I hope the attached chart proves helpful. If I'm not reading this right, let me know.

It will play MP3s encoded at 320kbps, however it will only rip music to the MB up to 132kbps.

Oh I see, I did misread. You're on top of things as usual, thanks Canuck.
